Odd looking Tangerine Dream

This doesn't seem anything like the pic, any guesses what I might have?

I love surprises!!!

I got a letter from Burpee last year telling me that the Tangerine Dream seeds I bought from them were actually something else. I didn't grow them last season, so I don't know what that something else was, but you might search on the Burpee site and see if you can find any information about the mix-up.

Maybe a little late for this year, but I'm sure I've still got some seed for those stored away.. If Burpee or your vendor don't hook you up for the mistake.
Thanks for the offer CF, but I'm good, I only bought it to save it from dying on the racks, but they sure look nice in the pic.

I'm still looking for an answer as to what it is, I've been searching pic's with no luck.
Looking at it this morning, it looks a lot like a poblano, sort of, maybe.

Can someone tell me what capsicum species this plant belongs to? (plant pic is in post #3)  It might help narrow down my search some.

Also could this just be a freak, being it's the first pepper to develop?

thanks

Flower, Single fruit per node, fruit stem thickness and fruit phenotype makes my call annuum.

My answer is extremely unlikely. Sometimes the first fruit or two are smaller or funky shaped, not crazy off off like pic.

Thanks ChileMan, I guess what I should have asked is, could this be a bell pepper even though it not lobed at the bottom.
I accepted early on that it can't be what I bought.....

And thanks for the info on Identification , I really need to read up on that.

Just to bring some closer to this thread I picked the largest one and opened it up. I guess it's a bell. no heat and no flavor. hopefully if I let the rest of them mature they'll have some flavor.

Thanks for playing along,
When you showed the cut open view, some that my wife grew last year came to mind. I think you have a variation of Purple Beauty bell pepper.
