smokers Finally, a Smoker I Can Call My Own

How did that pass inspection?

Built in the 50's by drunk farm boys--LITERALLY. I tore out one cinderblock wall in the cellar, and every single cell had an empty vodka bottle in it....the return trunk for the furnace was full of them too.

These buffoons made it up as they went.

*edit* Did I mention that I live on an Indian reservation? Was no code here back then, and if there were no one knew or cared.

It's a one time deal, boss. I got special dispensation from Rajun. I will pick up a chimney and natural lighting materials.

Read my previous posts. I bought what the losers had. It would be nice to find local coal that fit the parameters, but it looks like internet purchases are my future...

Or maybe Ashen will visit me a nice barrel to make my own....

I didn't really have any useful recommendation on charcoal brands as all my preferred ones besides Dragon Breath, are Canadian companies.

I have heard good things about Wicked Good charcoal but the price to source it here has kept me from trying it, when I can get decent stuff much cheaper. Unfortunately my bulk deal supplier has shut down their store so now I am paying double what I used to but still decent price compared to most .

I think I remember you saying something about Colorado , there are some places that sell wicked good there.

Did you buy this "custom" smoker at Ikea? You're doing a lot of assembling

I'm reminded of a Star Trek quote from the original pilot"

"They had all the pieces, but they'd never seen a human before...."

I'm keeping him apprised.....

That was easy enough. Thank God I didn't have to jack the ceiling...

Now then, my door mount thermometers showed up while I headered, but the effin neighbor is mowing and shakin' the skeeters out of the weeds. Time for an IPA...

Hey Ashen, I here there's a new Jollibee in Alberta. Have you tried it yet?

I don't know where you are but i saw a few other locations.

Has anyone in the US tried it yet? I see there's a few locations here to.

I'm sure it's no Popeye's but then I'm partial.

Back to the smoker, did it rain or are you on the Honey do list today too?

There are a couple in the Toronto area, I think one more opening soon.

The closest one is in a seafood city supermarket I have been too, but Jollibee hadn't opened yet when we were there .

I felt like Godzilla in downtown Tokyo though, surrounded by a thousand Filipinos averaging at least 8-9" shorter than me. :D

Yeah, Popeyes here isn't really all that good either .

I find most fast food fried chicken pretty grim, but a chain here called Mary Brown's does it ok.

I almost always make it homemade when I get a craving though .

FACT: Not all Popeye's here are good, I guess it depends on the manager.

#2. There's one Church's here that is tops and the only one I will get food from.

#3. KFC is garbage here.

#4. A local guy started a franchise called Krispy Krunchy Chicken, it's better than most restaurants and the business plan is modeled to serve in convenient stores/gas stations and that's where it all started. https://www.krispykrunchy.com/partnering/

I need to try the new Popeye's chicken sandwich and see what all the hype is about.

Wait. A real Cajun likes Popeyes???

Popeyes is a Cajun as Outback is Australian!

Not only a real Cajun but the Primal Cajun!

FYI, Popeye's is from new orleans, nothing about n.o. is Cajun. There's good things that came from there but it's still a shithole and tourist trap.

Actually, I'm ashamed to be associated with that rathole place. Scum of the state.

a popeye`s opened up within the last year where i am but i haven`t tried it but friends tell me it is just mediocre. the KFC`s here are the same. i have a chinese place close by that does a fried half chicken for under $5. my wife`s fried chicken ain't too shabby either.  this is what`s left from some chicken breast she made tonight.

I have mosquitos worse than ever, they are normally really bad too. If I start picking peppers they swarm out from under the leaves and hover around my deet soaked skin

The idea has been jostled about jokingly here in SC for years to claim the Mosquito as the "state bird." It is actually a popular bumper sticker here.  I can't swear to it but I think two weeks ago I saw a mosquito with a tick on it's back...

My two cents on the "derailment" train.

Cheers Eric!
