smokers Finally, a Smoker I Can Call My Own

I used to see B&B at my local Safeway, but I have since moved and they have been bought out by Albertson's, so I'm unsure if they still carry it.

Hanging weight or processed on per lb? Butchering fees on top?

If that is straight up , in the freezer per pound cost, that is a wicked good deal.

Vac-packed and boxed. And yeah, my meat guy loves us (we're his accounting firm). I always get 2 to 3 deer every year whether I shoot one or not.

But the man has so many farm connections here he even GAVE us a whole hog one year for Christmas.

These guys rawk!

PS. I still don't know how a brick got onto the coal grate! I remember seeing it during a few cooks and thinking it was an odd colored used piece of lump, and I leave those on there when they are still large (lazy, efficient?). After a couple cooks I finally picked it up and was like wtf it's a brick! So it could have been as old as Cowboy (most likely since I've heard of contaminants) but the most recent cooks were Royal Oak, so I won't point fingers. I'll just be on the lookout for bricks now.
I can pouromise you that Royal Oak has clay in it. Idk if its fired already, but by the time I find it at the bottom of the grill it is. Idk if ive found a piece as big as yours, but ive found a lot. I should save it until I have 30lbs and let royal oak trade me out for another bag of charcoal.

And the best lump ive used was from the carniceria, Idk what it said on thw bag, but it was nice big chunks.

They want a quart of my Rocoto/chokerry jelly to put in a test batch of beef jerky...This should be good!

And I get free jerky!

Sounds like a "win-win" deal to me. But as precious and hard to get as that jelly is, weigh your return wisely....

It can't be found anywhere in my state..... ;)   Not "yet" .....perhaps....

Here's a lump charcoal test and he dumps out the bags so you can see the chunks and dust.

Excellent...I'd like to find a retailer for that B&B...
Been away from THP for a few weeks (life gets in the way sometimes, haha), but I'd been meaning to thank RG for posting that video. I've always stayed away from lump after a few bad experiences with Royal Oak, so I decided to look around at the big box stores a little bit, a few weeks back, while I was shopping for my regular briquettes.

Anyway, I ended up finding 2 different bags of B&B (I wanna say they were $17-18 each?). One at Ace and the other at Wally World. Haven't tried either one yet, but I'll let you guys know as soon as I do

I haven't tried B&B yet, but it must be pretty good - that's what (not so big) Moe Cason uses!

Yeah Mike, I got two of the Oak Chunk, $17/bag @ Ace, but I had to order it. My Ace guy stocks the Cowboy stuff because a restaurant in town buys it in bulk, but I convinced him to try and talk the owner into trying the B&B. I'd like him to carry a selection of the many products they make. Never seen one coal outfit offer so many!

I know that some of you mix your own spice for snausage, and I did look up some mixes to try, but for my first pork/venison batch I thought I'd play it safe and get some prefab from one of the local outfitters. They didn't have andouille, so I had them order me enough to make a five lb. batch. This is what my $5.49 got me:

I guess I hope this stuff is great, yah? Or easily amended....Lord knows I have the powders to amend with!

Then I stopped at my meat guy for some fatty pork and told him what I was up to and the fool hands me this and says "20 pounds, cure's mixed in"...
