Hello From A New Company! (ScoviForge)

Hello Everyone!

My name is Brandon and I am trying to start a new hot sauce company in Harford County, MD. I have used TheHotPepper as a guest for a few items and I figured that I would join up to get more useful information. While trying to start up my little small batch sauce company, I am finding that there are A LOT of legal requirements that need to be met before I can sell my first bottle. My first foot forward on this site is to research exactly what documentation I need in MD to legally sell my sauces. I am past the trademark phase and declaring my company as an LLC, however I still have a mound of legal works to get organized before moving forward.

ANY help on how to better prepare myself for the legal aspect of things, please let me know! I am in the process of building a website (www.scoviforge.com) as well to push web sales and to promote local company news and events! It's not much right now, but I'll be working on that soon enough. For now, my IG page will suffice: https://www.instagram.com/scoviforge/

Thank you everyone for welcoming me to the community and I hope to learn a lot from everyone!

Salsa lady would be a good person to talk to about this.

First things first Welcome!

If it were me I'd have my product good to go and legal to sell before all that other stuff. Which includes but is not limited to: getting tested, getting process authority approved (which includes having a commercial kitchen or access to one to cook in) unless you're using a copacker which can (not always) cut some of those steps out (while of course costing significantly more money) and some other odds and ends like insurance etc. That people gloss over but are very important.

The thread is like 16 pages long but very informative and will answer a lot of your questions.
