Black Chiltepin or Will They Turn Red?

Attempting to grow some Chiltepins this year.  My pods are purple/black. Its been several years since I've grown them and I don't ever remember seeing this.  The seeds were commercially sourced and not from my own saving.   The pod shape and size is correct.  The flowers are tiny purple/white.  Is this the normal pod color progression to turning red, do I have Black Chiltepins or a cross?  The plants are massive and the foliage is purple in color.

I would expect them to turn red still, but that's a guess.  My reasoning is that I'm not familiar with a variety that stays black/purple and the gene that causes anthocyanin to remain in a mature pod is recessive, so it is unlikely to show up at F1 if this is an accidental hybrid.

Chiltepin Pima Bajo goes from green to black to red, but your flowers are different and I don't think CPB has anthocyanin in the foliage. Either way, your plant looks pretty cool!

Yep.  Cool plant.  We'll wait a bit on the pods.  Point noted on Reimers seeds.  In any case, those supposed Chiltepins seeds were old inventory.  I have not ordered anything from them in several years.
