What's up?

Hello, members of The Hot Pepper!

My name is Steve and I live in Scandinavia and I am a semi-talented magician, mediocre musician, scotch enthusiast (Laphroaig 10 is my favorite) and a noob chilihead.

I only got into chili's and started out with cayenne peppers everyday and after about two weeks or so that was no problem and then I made the decision to jump up the SHU a little more and about 3 weeks ago I ate my first African bird's eye chili.

I won't lie to you, as a beginner that little guy took me off guard and kicked my behind! It was tolerable, but just barely for my beginner mouth. (the endorphin rush was spectacular) I've been eating them every day since building up my tolerance and today I can eat a whole one without much issue but the first couple of minutes are a little rough.

Once I can handle those without any issue I think I will move along to something like a red Habanero and see what happens. I don't think I'll be ready for that for a bit though so I'm not going to rush it.

One thing that surprised me is the heat range individual peppers of the same type can have.

When I first started the bird's eye I ate a piece a few days after my first one and it was hot, but not as painful as the first time and then the next day I had a piece off a different one and it burned like the dickens!

Anyway, forgive my rambling I'm just excited and have been bitten by the chili bug!

See you around and thanks for having me.

Edit: corrected a spelling error.
