Numex Lemon Spice

Like i stated in the Zapotec Thread, These Darn things are REALLY REALLY GOOD! The best eating Jalapeño i have ever eaten

These poor little plants were mistreated, poked in the Ground With ZERO special care, After eating one of these, i REALLY Regret that I didnt put forth a little Time with these. I ordered More Seed from Refining Fire Chiles (Same place i got these Seed) I went with Lemon, orange, and Pumpkin. These will be my Next Season Focus.

This one shows Lemon, Flavor is out of this World Good! Its a wonder these plants grew anything, but as you can see they are really trying now, But its WAY to late here

Being a Hybrid theres no telling what you might get though? I know for ABSOLUTE Sure that i ate a Beautiful Lemon Spice Pepper from this Plant (I only have 2 Plants) But look at these, They sure arent Yellow. I gave my Dad 2 of these, he said flavor was AWESOME, But they were On the Edge of TO HOT for him

Awesome! I too am growing this variety...and I agree...excellent flavor. I said the same thing: Best jalapeño I've ever tried. That was until I tried the Orange version. Holy moly. Talk about spicy Halloween, with the flavor AND color. I swear it tastes just like spicy candy. And not gross, bitter extract candy. The smell is really reminiscent of sticking your head right into a candy filled pillowcase on Oct. 31st. Flavor is strikingly similar.

I can't find a lone pic of one, but there's once on the left above the tiny pods (Aji Charapita, etc.)

So to me, all three of these colors have extreme culinary potential.

Great stuff!!!!
:woohoo:

Yes! Got another yellow that ripened. It may end up in an SFRB...
Also, these have a great flavor when green as well. Maybe a little milder than a store-bought jalapeño, both flavor and heat. Maybe watered-down would explain it. But not as watered-down as a Farmer's Market Jal.

If you look at the link posted on the Zapotec thread, you'll see that the Lemon Spice (and the Pumpkin and Orange Spice) are single-species crosses that have been in-development for a quarter century. They're stable. No surprises.

Your Lemon Slice that ripened red is probably an unintended cross, probably coming from Duffy. I'm about to order seeds right from CPI; everything I've ordered from them grew 100% true. Plus, Duffy sells you ten seeds for $4, and they grow red. CPI is the actual source; the folks who developed this strain, and they are selling them at thirty seeds for $6. I'll be ordering mine soon. Trying to decide if I'll be trying the Orange and the Pumpkin as well...

DAMN it you guys!! I already ordered Seed from refining, they are probably in my mailbox now ☹️ I wish i had known about CPI, i would have ordered directly from them! Guess i stil can I went with all 3 Varieties, Lemon, Orange, And Pumpkin

Hey ShowMeDaSauce, Where is that place that carries so many Varieties of Rocoto Seed? You sent me a Link to 3 Different Sites and i have no isea what i did with them? Anyway, the 1 site in particular had LOTS of Variety, where i got the Guatemalan, and Ecuadorian

CPI is not the cheapest but you get what asked for. You get them from the creator with a good reputation.

I think im gunna go with orange spice since its hard to rap my head around a yellow jalapeno tasting like a jalapeno. :P Ive been wanting to try the NuMex Suave Orange anyway.

CPI certainly isn't the cheapest, but they're cheaper than Duffy and they're the real-deal it comes to any of the NuMex varieties.

Pepperlover lists a lot of pubes, but never seems to have more than a hand full of them in-stock. Semillas has more pubes than any other site I've seen. https://www.semillas.de/cgi-bin/shop_en/shop.cgi?shop=%22%22&keywords=Capsicum%20pubescens&cart_id=%22%22 One of these years, I'll muster the courage to try growing pubescens in the hot and humid season of zone 7b...

I grew lemon spice last year, I must not have tasted it. This year I grew out a bunch of F2 cross of primavera jalapeno. They were huge last year at F1 this year I'm getting a bunch of yellows and oranges, and I made poppers that may have been the best ever. They were pretty hot even with the placenta taken out. I'm gonna save some seeds if anyone is interested

How long do people on this side of the pond usually have to wait for orders from Semillas.  I have had seeds on order for probably a month now.
I can imagine customs xraying the package and scratching their heads!!!!!! :shame:

I've ordered many times and about 1 week is typical for me. I'm not sure it's every been more than a day or two longer.

Sounds good. I dont need many, Just want to try a couple plants next year. Just Orange Spice is fine. I want them hot for sauce. Its easy enough to make the sauce more red with annatto. Pretty sure the JPGS will work for you. I had lots of early pods off mine and they just keep producing. I got some isolated pods air drying now. You can taste one and keep the seeds if you want.
