Pepper fruits on vacation

Hey there,

I JUST picked my first ripe peppers from my datil plants two days ago. They seem to be ripening ever faster. The catch is, I am leaving in a few days and won't be back for a little over a week. My plants live at my friends' house, so they can keep them watered (in containers, they've been needing a ton of water with the heat wave the last 2 weeks). The question is, what's the best thing to do with the peppers? Pick anything with a hint of yellow and let them ripen on the counter while I'm gone? Leave everything not ripe on the plant and get it when I get back? Have my friends pick peppers a couple times while I'm gone and have them freeze pods? Of course, they are welcome to grab ripe pods while I'm gone, but I don't know how much they care for hot peppers.

What would y'all do?

If it was me, and it was only for a little over a week, I wouldn't worry about it.

Harvest before you go, tell your friends to keep them watered, take whatever ripe ones they want, and do a harvest when you get back.

I don't think a week will make a great deal of difference if they are yet to ripen before you go.
