I love tomatillos they taste great but the pests just loved them too much here, everytjhing looks really good AJ.

AJ,

The plants look fantastic. You should have all the ingredients you'll need for gallons of salsa and hot sauce!

Mike

thanks Mike and that was the goal...to grow all the "stuff" for my salsa/hot sauce. I also have herbs growing I am piddlin' with this year.

Ciao AJ-

Tell me how you made your little rack for the tomato cups. That's a great idea, especially for hardening off. I put mine in 16 oz party cups and they always wobble. I haven't lost a plant yet, but it's a matter of time before I do. There's a watering tray underneath the cups? I didn't see it but I assume there must be.

Ciao Sorellina...thanks...

here is a link to my blog that gives the instructions of how to build them. There isn't a wartering tray underneath them...I move them to a watering tray when they need something to drink...

Ciao AJ-

That's a very nice workshop/man cave you have there. Duane would love something like that. Your project looks fairly straight-forward. He may want to make something like that this season, time-permitting.

Thanks Sorellina, my man cave is not as large as I would like (12' X 16') but it works well.

Never grew or had Tomatillos (that I know of). are they easy to grow?

That and how do they taste?

they are extremely easy to grow IMO and grow like mad...these were planted the same time my tomatos were and some are 18" tall now...as far as the taste...to me they taste kinda like green tomatos but sweeter...if you see green salsa, it is usually made with tomatillos...

I am going to grow them in pots so if they self seed for me, I will just treat them as weeds in the yard and they will either get mowed down or weed eated down...

Stillz...can you describe the taste of tomatillos for these guys?

It likely doesn't matter how much you mow or till or if you grow in pots, if there are any tomatillo pods left out, they will become weeds.
I've tried growing tomatillos in containers but they grow so tall and leggy, and like tomatoes they eventually require very deep pots
