Name that pod

hey guys, something i found a little strange.....just to confirm my suspicions.....

i know most of you guys have seen almost all the types of pods out there...... what type of pod would you say this is? :

Well what are your suspicions? Where did the seed come from? It's pimply as hell that's for sure! Looks like a naga or a 7-pot, though most of the 7's I've seen don't look so tapered and pointy, more round and fat.

there was a guy at my work who said he once had an extremely hot pepper growing at his home.........when i asked him to describe it.....he said it was similar to a red hab, but with a pointed tip.......(was thinking of the scorpion)......

so i asked him for some pods if he had.......he brought one that was already dried and i did see the tip he was talking about.....

this plant is from that pod and it is also the first pod on the plant....

my suspicion was that it was a 7 pod.....but 7's are alot thicker closer to the stem.....

but heres the thing......when this pod was pollinated the petals remained on the pod while it was growing and was kinda "squeezing" the top of the pod until i removed them.....so i'm a bit confused (well not a bit..alot confused as to what this pepper is).....also i never saw a 7 as wrinkly as this one.....

I want seeds!!!!!!! In that case, if it's native, I'd say some 7-pot/ T-scorp kinda thing. If the flowers remain on the pod, leave them. I think this can have something to do with the scorpion tail?

either way, I want seeds!!!!!!!!

PM me if you've got any of them left and want to trade!

Considering how much crossing goes on in T&T, who knows.

Trini would probably know, but I haven't seen her around in awhile. :(

it could be a Naga Morich,Bhut or Bih Jolokia.

the purpleing of the leaf veins looks alot like the bhut jolokia I grow.
healthy plant.

thanks guys...

i have never actually grown any Nagas, Bih or Bhut before (only recently set some Bhut seeds which i received from Cappy last week). But from looking at pix on the internet the Nagas seem similar.....also that purpling of the stem i have not seen on other peppers i have grown (scorps & congos mainly)

the flowers are only now becoming abundant on the plant and i guess i will leave the petals on the next pollinated flower (who knows it may have something to do with the shape of the pod)...

FiveStar

as for seeds i don't have any of the original left.....

i got two of these plants growing (had some problems with the other one - aphids, but should be about 2 weeks behind this one), i can harvest seeds directly from the pods from this one if you like......

will PM when some ripen........or i can just simply take this same pod and send you the seeds once it ripens...

Looks like a naga to me but because of the pimpling and the fact that you are in Trindad, it may be a 7-pot/pod too.
I've also noticed that flowers can really manipulate the shape of a pod, especially on the T. scorpions and some other super-hotties

I am going to name that pod "James"

why james?

Instead of "Jonah" I assume. Both AJ and I are growing the Bhut seed I sent you. Some of my favorite plants, different leaves than most C. Chinense. Thinner longer greener leaf shape. Nice pepper you have forming, to me it looks more Bhut/Naga than anything from Trinidad. Whatever it is it looks HOT!

It may be one of two varieties: Trinidad Scorpion "Morouga Blend" I have had some pods shaped like yours w/extreme pimpling. Another is a rare strain of 7 pot from Tobago. Third it could be anything. lol.
