Hot Sauce Starter Help

Hey guys,

I like spicy foods but I'm afraid at some of the sauces I've seen. I really want to try them because they sound like they can be fun. I want to try sauces like Da Bomb Ground Zero, Blair's Mega Death, and Crazy Jerry's Mustard Gas. I came here for help on what sauces I should start with to make those sauces more tolerable. Or should I just dive into them and start with those? I use Frank's Xtreme Hot Sauce, I know that isn't hot but I like the flavor. So please, all the help you can offer will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome! I find just jumping in to be really fun, but then again if one really isn't pepared for the pain/fun they you may be blown away.

Yeah, thanks for the welcome guys. I really want to just jump in because im tired of drenching my burritos in Cholula and Tapatio to get some spicy. Just the descriptions of these super hot sauces scare me. I don't want to die just for a hot sauce because I really don't know what to expect.

Expect HOT! The Mega Death is a little less hot than the Jearsey Death. Haven't tried any of the others but they are all on my list. I do, however, know about them and they are blistering hot. You'll probably run around the room say, "What was I thinking!?!?!" and then after the pain stops you'll probably want more.

If you want to use the sauces to buld up your tolerence, take a little bit on you tounge every night. If you want to build up you tolerance with less hot products then I would suggest Blairs Original Death Sauce or Jalapeno Death Sauce.

Order a bottle from here www.dannycash.com and get his Bottled Up Anger.

Also for something nice, hot and really tasty... www.lizardsonthebayou.com Get a bottle of the Gila Venom

The Gila Venom packs a good punch, but the flavors of the habenero pepper really sail through. Highly reccomended, by me, for someone who wants to get into the hotter stuff and not kill yourself.

The Bottled Up Anger is so fresh, you really need it to sit about a week to really enjoy it. Not to crazy hot, but nice just the same.

If you're willing to wait a few weeks 'till my pepers get ripe, I'll be more than happy to send you a bottle of my Nuclear Scurvy!

Don't be afraid of any sauce! It's not radiator fluid. If the burn is too much for you it will go away in a few minutes. Experiment!

Thanks guys.

Agent, what a lot of people do with our stuff is actually mix them together to raise or lower the heat to their tolerance level. Oh, by the way, haven't really posted this anywhere but our site, but we are coming out with the 8 ounce #1's, and substantially hotter...Once again Defcon shows it's empathy for the public, and answers its call!

If you are just starting, I'd push that CaJohns Talon to the bottom of the list. Red Savina(R) and Fatalli peppers. The hottest non-extract sauce i've had. Definitely get it - it's my favorite sauce. GOOD but hot. :mouthonfire:

Try a sauce by Matouk's. Readily available in local groceries, inexpensive (compared to Tabasco, etc. ) and wonderful habanero flavor. Oh, and heat; Matouk's has good heat. It's a nice warm-up sauce :mouthonfire:

Someone else mentioned Danny Cash....I tried bottled up anger, and was angry that I used the whole bottle, and still no heat. Good flavor, though....they must like things a little on the mild side in Denver.

Oh well. That's why there are so many hot sauces out there....there are so many different taste buds to tantalize.

Bon Apetit.

Excellent Advice Huv..Talon is a scorcher, the flavor is wonderful. And believe me, It's an experience you won't soon forget. :mouthonfire:

Cool, thanks guys. I don't eat many wings but I heard Defcon can still be used on other foods so I hope that's true. Someone is sending me a free bottle of Death in the Desert, he said it is made in Arizona so I might try that one too.

I've only had Defcon on chicken, and it was great. Death in the Desert is on my priority list. Soooo many sauces to try. I've been a chilehead for several years, and still haven't been able to try everything. Once you dive in, there's no turning back, you'll be addicted...Sit back and enjoy the ride!

I'm not sure if I posted it here, but I have a LOT of people telling me the #2 is great for marinated shrimp. I haven't tried it yet, but it seems to be the new trend as of late. Marinate them overnight, and throw them on the grill.

All sauces are good on food..i put mine on spaghetti..!! and it is awesome...you just need to experiment on your taste buds...
