#1162050 Pepper Poll (which should I enter in the Fair)

Posted by Guatemalan Insanity Pepper on 12 May 2015 - 02:28 PM

Personally I feel a nice pot - with few decorations that shows off the healthy vibrant plant - would be the best route to go.  Something classy, perhaps with an information card attached that details the plants origins, uses, etc.  If I'm judging I don't want to miss the plant for the pot ya know?

yeah, personally I could care less about the pot its in usually(as long as its big enough for the plant in it)

However they are giving 20/100 points to the Container it's in (which I think is dumb)

I'm liking the idea about a detailed information card.

please keep the suggestions coming everyone

#1162000 Pepper Poll (which should I enter in the Fair)

Posted by Guatemalan Insanity Pepper on 12 May 2015 - 12:31 PM

So, my wife asks me this morning if I am going to enter any of my Pepper plants in the Fair this year. I responded with: I hadn't even thought of that... I don't know which one I would enter.

& That's where this Idea came from.

I know I'm new here, but I'm hoping for your opinions on which Pepper you think would be the best to enter into the State Fair

Here are the Stipulations:

It has to be in a pot no bigger than 16" x 16"

Entries will be judged on quality, culture, stage of development and attractiveness of container

it will be on display end of August through beginning of September and should be fruiting @ this time

Also, I won't be able to check on it regularly and it will be there for about 3 weeks, but I'm guessing they have someone there to water it when it starts to droop.

This is how it will be Scored:

Score Criteria

Culture and condition......................................... 50 Pts.

Size, shape and development.............................30 Pts.

Container............................................................20 Pts.

TOTAL 100

This entry is mostly for fun, & I don't think I am a Master Gardener or anything.

The prizes are minimal.

But...

Wouldn't it be Fun knowing you helped pick out what I entered, if I do end up winning any ribbons ?

Now, Pink Tiger (beautiful plant) immediately comes to mind but I'd like to enter something more stable (& this is my first year growing that one from these seeds)

So...

Here is my Grow list for this year, and a Pic of where the plants are currently @ in size as of a few days ago

#1160926 BREAKFAST!!!

Posted by Guatemalan Insanity Pepper on 10 May 2015 - 01:23 AM

Okay, so I didn't make this(anyone want to take a guess where we were)but it was good breakfast, or maybe it was just the Sauce.  ;)

The waiter looked at me sideways when I asked for extra Serrano's, and stood there staring as I chomped into it when he did bring them (like he'd never seen a White guy eat a seared Serrano)  or maybe it was that I brought my own bottle of LuckyDogHotSauce

I ended up using half that Bottle of red label on just My breakfast (should have brought pepper powders too)

lol, I'm getting hungry again looking at my own pics

Thanks for the heads up, I'll be picking up a couple.

These should be good to compare to the mix I made.

I'll probably still end up adding more Perlite, some Mushroom compost, and Worm Castings to this when I pot them up though.

#1160340 my 2015 Grow

Posted by Guatemalan Insanity Pepper on 08 May 2015 - 04:55 PM

Okay, I am new here, and have never done a Grow Log.  This isn't my first time growing peppers, it's my first time trying to keep a Log of it.

so Here's an attempt at a Grow Log.

I say Attempt because I can't find most of my pictures from February through April  :mope:

So here is the few Pics I can find, and I will update when I find the others (think they might be on the Wife's phone) as well as updating more as the season progress's

#1160325 Lucky Dog Hot Sauce

Posted by Guatemalan Insanity Pepper on 08 May 2015 - 04:12 PM

Thanks Scott,

Just received my order

Ate a couple tablespoons of the Pink Label, on some leftover Turkey as it was what the Wife served for Lunch today.

(I contemplated just opening up a bottle and taking a pic of me eating one of the Starch-Packing-peanuts with sauce on it  than thought, that might be a little ridiculous.)

In my opinion, while this isn't going to burn the carp out of you unless you have a lower tolerance to heat. It Will get used more than something that would, and is as the back of the label says; "Respectably hot"

as well as delicious !

I haven't tried 1 of your sauces that I didn't like Scott, they all bring on the Flavor like a Sauce should.

Thanks again

#1160091 STEAK!!

Posted by Guatemalan Insanity Pepper on 08 May 2015 - 12:39 AM

Ps does everyone one on thp hate eggs? :)

Heck no!

I was  :drooling: drooling over your steak pics, but when I saw those breakfast Tacos...  I needed a sponge strapped to my chin to soak up the drool

The Wife can't stand Runny yoke, but I can't get enough of it. :P

Wiped clean off a plate with some tortillas/ toast, or  a English muffin,or on a burger, in a taco, wherever... Fresh eggs are delicious

#1159700 Carl's Jr. Is Launching 'Fast-Food's Hottest Burger'

Posted by Guatemalan Insanity Pepper on 07 May 2015 - 08:58 AM

No Carls Jr. here, but there is Hardees (same star logo, nearly identical menu, guessing there the same)

I tried this (fully not expecting to be Wowed)

It was a $12 (got the combo) Sloppy-mess!

I should have known better.

& how can they even call those things Jalapeno poppers ?

I didn't even want to finish it.

Conclusion:

Watching the commercial for this, is far better than eating this Burger.
