Hey guys sorry for not updating the blog lately.  My CBS plants are ripening pods with more consistency since the heavy rains in Charleston a few weeks ago.  We had 28" of rain in a 24 hour period and if you had any leaks you knew about it right away.  Cats and dogs non-stop but the plants got a good flush and I am doing a fresh pods for free beer barter trade with the local brewery in town again this year.  The beer is Brain Squasher and American spicy Pumpkin Stout.  http://www.holycityb.../brain-squasher  There was just a Zombie pub Crawl featuring this beer and everyone dressed up like zombies and went bar to bar.  All the profits made from the beer sales are donated to a charity.  I have donated pods several years now and this year when I was taking fresh pods up to the brewery I they of course have it on tap but they have some can in six packs with this killer label over in the cooler.  AWESOME! I of course took a case home and haven't touched it yet.  I missed the whole pub crawl this year and heard it was a huge success and everybody loves the beer is the feedback I'm getting.  I just got back from opening weekend in South Dakota pheasant hunting and could not turn down the incredible hunt.  Just beautiful bird almost like a Dr. Seuss animal with the big feathers and radiating colors the roosters have.  Get home last night and I have a package from our resident Pulpiteer with some seeds and a bottle of home tapped pepper infused maple syrup! Putting them on some brussel sprouts tonight for dinner thanks so much Andy!

Thanks everyone I am great just been away fishing the OBX the past several weeks.  Fishing Oregon Inlet with the Hot Tuna fishing guys every morning doing all we can not to hit the bridge like two of them did.  What an incredible fishing heaven that is truly gods country for a fisherman guy like me.  We caught Yellowfin Tuna down at the Point last week and this week fished the triple zeros and released 2 sailfish 3 White Marlin and 1 Blue Marlin this past weekend.  I have been fishing a BC Boat that is built right there in Manteo NC and stopped by the boat shed where it was built before driving home yesterday.

My plants are alive but neglected having to defend for themselves not getting water except when it rains.  They are pushing some peppers but nothing like the first wave I got in July.  These plants make me thing they might be a one and done and I don't know if I am going to get the second flush next month or not.  I have saved lots of genetics from my grow of the CBS 7 Pods and I know my inbox is full done on purpose.  I have 500 PMs open that I can continue conversations with, just no new people with 0 post that need all this seeds for a grow next year.  Life is good and pepper people are the best thanks for checking on me.

I absolutely love pickled red Jalapeno slices when there are no fresh peppers in the garden.  They would not last long around here in pickle juice.

Not much to update except I am watering twice a day now due to the extreme heat and absolutely no rain the month of July.  Picking peppers and filling orders as fast as I receive them.  It has been the hottest summer I can remember here and my plants are stressed from the heat and lack of water but the pods are still coming in hot.  Ready for some cooler fall temps but that is still over a month away.  I have been dehydrating all the subprime peppers I cannot sell and have a couple gallon bags of dehydrated CBS pods that I am about to grind to make powder/flakes.  I still haven't put the first pepper in the freezer this year to save for my hot sauce, planning on a few big fall harvest to take care of that.  I have only 5 bottles of my 2014 left so I need to get busy saving some for this years chocolate version.  The life of a pepper gardener.

Hey Jason, Your plants at the house in the big 20-30 gallon containers have really taken off over the last month, happy to see those taking off for you and I hope they are some of you prized plants to collect some more seed from.  Don't worry I have Tupperware containers of seed I will never grow that you welcome to just for the asking.  I also have some of your Chocolate Bubblegum seeds from you I did not grow this year that I will gladly return to the rightful owner.  What types are you specifically looking for, or if you don't mind I'll send the whole lot and what you don't use you can pass it on.

Hey Cappy just tried to pm you and I'm guessing your getting a ton of pm from members trying to score some hot @ss peppers. Your mailbox seems to be full. So I guess I'll just ask you here.

Interested in getting a small usps box shipped but wondering what you mean by collect able seeds. Are they a special variant or something from your personal collection? Done for this season but would love something special. Pm me and let me know where to send payment. Thanks in advance.

I deleted some messages and cleared some slots so please PM me again.  Collectable seeds in that this is the only pepper I am growing on my property so there is very little chance of cross pollination and all the seeds should grow true = collectable seeds.  Thanks.

I see they worked up a Brain Strain coating for the blade......

That is the first I have used the sharpened railroad spike for cutting up Brains but I am sure it can be used as a stripper with extract concentrations.  Just have to figure out how to remove all the glitter and cheap perfume when I'm done.

I have learned a thing or two about growing hot peppers over the years and most of it is here in this glog.  There should be quite a few receiving these Chocolate Brain Strain pods in the mail today, of all those peppers I only kept 4 of the finest looking pods and let them ripen a few more days inside.  They are huge 7 Pods and just eating a sliver had me sweating and high from the endorphin rush, drinking some local brew I traded for pods to cool me down.  I used the 411 Scrapyard knife to cut up the pods to show you can do delicate work and for OCD Chilehead.  Thanks for all comments.

A really nice haul of Chocolate BrAiN sTrAiNs from the backyard today! Wrapped all in the table cloth and got on a scale and they weighed almost exactly 18 lbs., probably my biggest harvest ever.  Have lots of flat rate boxes to fill and ship out tomorrow morning.  Also a picture of me filling seed baggies over the weekend, hope everyone had an awesome July 4th laying on their back picking peppers in the garden watching the fireworks.

Hey Cappy, those look yummmmy!!! Since your sauce has been my favorite for a few years now, I'm wandering when you'll have this new chocolate mash ready to sell? :drooling: :drooling: :drooling:  I want 2!!

Shauna and mpicante,

The Chocolate Brain Strain mash will ready sometime this fall after fermenting the peppers for several weeks and then cooking the sauce.  I am trying to accommodate the interest in these CBS peppers right now, but will start saving the pods for my hot sauce soon.  I will have bottles with both your names on it when the new sauce comes out.  Thanks!

Those CBS plants have tripled in size since the last visit-incredible.

Nice Busse...do I see damascus there?

I'm just guessing here ....assuming the pods will get the reddish tinge to the placenta like Brown 7's if allowed to ripen a bit more? I will be taking you up on the seeds and SFRB,  with a time delay as always.

PM headed your way.

Thank Dave!

The pods definitely turn darker the more ripe they get put I am picking them as soon as all the green is gone from the tops.  This mornings harvest shows some of the different shades of brown with different degrees of ripeness.  For everybody that got tracking numbers this morning these are your pods! Yup that small Busse is a Magnum Bear Cub and my camp knife in this picture is an Busse Industrial Grade ASH-1 my two grail knives.  No Damascus in my collection yet.  Hope everybody has a great weekend!
