#1631829 KAOS - 2019 Glog

Posted by KAOS on 14 May 2019 - 04:52 AM

Starting early, good to see. Interesting germination plan that you have there.
Seeds on coir in humidity pods?
Good luck.

Cheers Jacques. Only two weeks earlier but got impatient 😂. Yes mini plastic pots with lids and coir with seed on top. Worked well last year.

I am in for a ride. Interested in how the BBG7 x Tabasco will work out. Blessings sent

Thanks SP. Actually looking forward to trying that one in particular. I think it will make a good powder.

Some harvests from 2018 season. Been a reasonably good year with many sub 200k varieties.

#1631243 2018 Southern Hemisphere Grow Down-Under

Posted by KAOS on 10 May 2019 - 02:39 PM

Well done folks!

I must admit I've had my bhut handed to me by 'yall ;)

Same this side. Well done Jaques and Bob, you smoked us this year.

I have picked a couple extra over last few weeks, but I'd say I broke the 500g mark and no more.

🤣 Karoo

- Start 01/06 and end 31/05
- Anything except Capsicum Annuum
- Max soil volume 40ltrs (I.e. 50ltr pot / 40ltr soil)
- Kratky acceptable (for the adventurous types)
- To start seedlings anything goes (max pot size 1ltr)
- After 1ltr pots its into soil or kratky
- No limit on pot upsizing (0.5 - 1 - 2 - 5 - 10 - 20 - 40)
- No moving parts (pumps, etc) if hydro starting
- Total pods weighed in wins

I think that about covers it all.

- Fabric grow bags acceptable

- Non-Southern Hemisphere welcome (if they can lose humbly)

Righty o Gang

Start listing your interest and we will start a new topic 01st June.

State your chosen pepper in your reply (remember no Annums)

I will be growing Mako Akokosrade (C. Chinense).

How about we make another hyper-growdown for 2 years. Again, you upside downers can have your own, but we can make one for everyone.

I kinda like this idea SP. Set up a growdown that runs over a full two years. This way we either go indoors under lights or over winter. Pros and cons for both approach.

Get it up and running

I like the choose any variety idea. What would be the start day?

To make the season ever so slightly longer I propose we start 01st June.

I think the idea, when we stick to a specific pepper type, is to start with seeds from a single source to start every one evenly.

Anyone have any idea how the maths will work?

Been thinking about the maths and we keep it simple. Total weight wins.

I'm keen. Maybe stick to a specific pepper type (Carolina Reaper seeds are common enough these days).

Too many variations on Reaper to make it level playing field. Could look at an SHU entry level - say 200k. That way fast growing and really big varieties are almost entirely excluded.

So would coco and nutes to raise seedling be ok?

As long as there is no moving parts (pumps / air stones / etc) I would say all ok. Final growing medium either Kratky or soil.
