At long last....a sauce company is born

09 April 2018 - 06:51 PM

It has been a long road to get here but Rising Smoke Sauceworks will officially be selling six varieties of hot sauce beginning this Saturday.  This forum has been such a valuable resource in me getting the company started and getting my products legal I would like to share a discount code with each of you.

Visit http://www.risingsmokesauce.com and enter code "THP" at checkout for 20% off your entire order.

I can't thank you guys enough for all of the valuable information shared, pinned posts, feedback, etc.  The discount code will be active through 4/22.

Label question

08 February 2018 - 06:32 AM

Im at the point of getting prices for printing my labels for my first run. When searching for a printer, what type of label specs should I be looking for? I know what size I am using, but I assume there are different types of material that should be used for refrigeration, etc. I just want to make sure I am pricing the right product up front.

Thank you for any help!

Web platform

28 January 2018 - 04:41 PM

So the business has been started, product is being manufactured and now I'm trying to figure out the online ordering mechanism.  What web platform are you guys using?  I started my site through Wix which was easy to get up and running but offered no shipping integration or basic options like coupon codes, etc.  I'm struggling with how to set up the shipping cost rules when orders are larger than a flat rate envelope or box.  So....I added on Ecwid which offered integration with the USPS to provide a shipping calculation at check out based on weight and dimensions.  Perfect.  But.....it does not offer the option to print shipping labels so now I would have to go the USPS.com and enter info manually to print each label unless I now also add on Shipstation at an additional cost.  I feel like I'm headed down the rabbit hole here and would greatly appreciate any advice.

I won't have product to sell for a few more weeks so I'd like to get this all ironed out in advance and if I need to scrap all I've done and choose a new platform like Shopify then I guess now is the time to do it.

Business Software

23 December 2017 - 02:37 PM

OK, I've made a lot of progress in getting the business going.  I have formed the LLC, working with a copacker on the first two batches, have insurance, etc.  Now it's time to get software to help me keep track of expenses, sales, inventory, etc.  The obvious default is Quickbooks but I have seen less than favorable reviews.  What other options are you guys using??

I truly appreciate the help!

Logo feedback

30 November 2017 - 08:17 PM

I am in the process of becoming legal and everyone on this site has provided an incredible amount of good advice it's so much appreciated.  Now I would like to ask for feedback on my logo.  Most of my sauces feature smoked peppers, hence the name.  I'd love to know what you think.
