*closed*Dehydrated pods auction

20 December 2011 - 05:52 PM

The two large bags are whole dried bhuts (lgallon bags just under one lb) I got those from FSA for $50. The small bag is a mix of trin scorp, yellow 7, yellow bhut jolokia, trin scorp hybrid, habalokia and red rocoto its a sandwich bag stuffed so tight it can barley close than just a few choc scorps and bhuts and some red trin scorps.

Any bid over $20 I will cover the S&H. Need some extra holiday cash. Bids under $20 you cover S&H. Its a good offer for people who want to make some sauces or powders.

Starting bid $1.00

root removal from hydroton HELP!

18 December 2011 - 10:30 PM

My hydro experiment this year went much better than expected I am now however trying to remove the hydroton from the root system and need some help. I am not sure if its worth my time to try and get the hydroton out of these roots, they are hanging on tight. Will soaking them in hydrogen peroxide loosen them out or should I just use new hydroton? I hate wasting and dont really want to throw them away. Anybody out there know an easy way of doing this? I used a flood and flow system the holes in the roots are the inlet and outlet. Any help would be appreciated!

"glueing" a lady bugs wings??

12 October 2011 - 12:17 AM

I was doing research to see if lady bugs will eat aphids in total darkness and came across this on a website:

"If desired, you can keep ladybug adults from flying by "gluing" their wings shut, temporarily, with a sugar-water solution. Half water and half sugared pop (Coke, Pepsi, etc.), in a spray bottle, works fine. Spray it right in the bag the ladybugs come in, as soon as you open it. You'll easily coat most of them. After a week or so, the "glue" wears off."

Has anybody out there tried this? Honestly if it works seems like a great idea.

Indoor Grow

03 October 2011 - 03:37 PM

No pics yet, hopefully will be able to snap some tonight. I pulled some plants from the ground and some were already in pots and have had them indoors for a week now. I killed a few earwigs on the first night, than killed one more today. Than I saw a bastard APHID smashed it and the search begun I killed a couple more and when I reached my yellow bhut plant the buttom of the leaves were covered in them. I removed it from the grow room and put it outside were it will be staying. Searched the plants for more of them and couldnt find anymore. I started thinking this is going to be more of a hassle than it was really worth. Scorpion plants that didnt grow true, plants in shock and losing leaves the possibility of an infestation. I was feeling pretty low and thats when I saw a lady bug on top of one of my plants. It seemed to fill me with some renewed sense of hope. How did she get here and where had she come from? She doesnt really have anywhere to fly so she will prob stick around. And I am pretty sure I wont have to turn on the heater all winter because my light gives off so much heat I have to keep the windows cracked. I am starting this thread with a rant in hopes of finishing it with a smile and pocket full of peppers.
