Brain Strains are still going! These came from Cappy

02 March 2012 - 10:02 PM

It has been a while since I have posted outside the PNW Chilihead Camp out thread. I still have the 7 Pod Brain Strain plants that I started July 2010. These came from seeds that I purchased from Cappy, harvested from the Mother Plant that did not make it though the third winter. Last fall I cut them back hard, but left lots of nodes for them to grow from. They were taken from the 7 gallon pots, had the root balls cut back, and planted in a pair of 5 gallon pots. They have spent the winter in the house, in their very own bay window. As you can see, they are still growing, and putting out flowers like mad. Not setting any pods, too cold, and not enough light. Will move them out to the greenhouse in a few weeks, probably middle of April. with the way they are flowering now, I am hoping they will produce gobs later this year.

Offspring from the Mother Plant produce!

10 October 2011 - 07:43 PM

I have been growing these two Brain Strain plants from seed from the Mother Plant since July 2010. I can now say they have FINALLY produced some normal sized pods, I picked them today. I have not cut them open yet, I want to let them sit a day or two to get that last bit of ripening done. But if prior pods, that were rather miniature in size, were any indication, these will be totally nuclear in the heat department. Not just hot, but some of the gnarliest looking peppers I have laid eyes on!

in the photo there are the brains, with a small chocolate Hab, chocolate Bhut, and a yellow 7 pod, with a quarter for size....

Adding emoticons to menu

05 July 2011 - 08:17 PM

Not long ago I was looking for a smiley (graemlin, emoticon, what ever you want to call it) to use for "show me a photo" when someone posed a question that really needed a picture when the description was not enough. The emoticon I used was "snagged" from cloudy nights, an astronomy forum, and is this:

It is located on this graemlin menu on cloudy nights:

http://www.cloudynig...aemlinpanel.php

Since using the smiley, I have seen several other posts that have used the same one, from the same address, by other members, so it is a popular emoticon.

I have been active on several forums over the past few years, and know how to post any unprotected image that has a true web address into a post using the "img" tags. Not everyone knows how to do this, even though I find it very easy. I know from other forums that use the very same IP Board software that the emoticons menu is editable, and smilies can be added and/or deleted by the admins. I would love to suggest adding this particular smiley, and any others that members can suggest here, if I am not overstepping my bounds......

A Screaming Brain Strain!

21 June 2011 - 09:01 PM

I had another early 7 Pod BS ripen, but it was a small bugger. I had to laugh when I picked it though, it is screaming! I took it with a jalapeņo and a Fresno, chopped them up and added them to a jar of Kosher Dills. I will let you know in a month or so how it turns out!

It is a tiny bugger!

Scored some used #5 pots, now what do I do.......

22 May 2011 - 03:59 PM

Found some #5 tall injection molded nursery pots on Craig's, the heavy duty kind. They are used, and I am thinking that I need to clean them out before I use them, in case there are any nasties that might transfer to the new plants. Any suggestions on how or what to use? I got a decent deal, 64 pots for eighty clams.
