#957542 Selling fresh pods at the farmers market

Posted by biscgolf on 25 February 2014 - 08:03 PM

i sell produce for a living including at several farmer's markets. i also serve on a board that oversees 5 local markets. all require a million in liability insurance regardless of what you are selling. your local market may operate differently.

#957034 Are Jiffy Pots worth it?

i don't like them either. they generate more work than they save.

#953708 Cloning help needed

Thanks for sounding in and giving your opinion. When I started the cuttings I used Clonex Gel do you think it's worth using the Clonex solution it's $27.00 a quart at my hydro shop? I'm only going to be cloning maybe another 10 to 12 pepper plants then will be transferred to 5 gal pots and probably  the same amount of tomatoes.

 Thanks for the help Trickster

for that number of cuttings i would stick to what you've already got. the tomatoes are going to root more easily than the peppers anyway.

you can order dip n grow online for about 12 bucks as well.

i have always preferred liquid rooting hormones to gels or powders. i use dip n grow currently- peppers are somewhat slow to root- generally takes 15-20 days. i'm rooting in a mix of 80% vermiculite to 20% potting mix.

#940057 Fatalii VS. Datil VS. Devil's Tongue

only on THP do people say fatalii's have "medium" heat...  :P

#939987 Fatalii VS. Datil VS. Devil's Tongue

Posted by biscgolf on 20 January 2014 - 02:35 PM

i have grown all 3 several times and would rate them as follows:

heat: fatalii, devils tongue, datil  (datil being considerably less than the other 2 which are fairly close)

flavor: datil, fatalii, devils tongue (datils are sooo fruity- probably my favorite pepper, fatalii's are too but the heat tends to override some of it)

productivity: fatalii, datil, devils tongue (fatalii has consistently been a great producer for me)

overall were i you i would probably grow both datil and fatalii and ditch the devils tongue. if i had to grow just one it would be datil.

I grow produce for a living and deal with a lot of different seed companies. Pepper Lover is top notch and highly recommended!  Judy's service is great!

#927670 What is the advantage of repotting repeatedly?

moving up in steps also is more space efficient if you have a ton of plants or a small space.
