Ed, you get enough to try pickling the greens.

Mine have stunted since plant out so far.

Yea pickling would be a good option. I've already been giving a bunch away. My idea was to just make that basic sauce as simple as possible so I can cook with it without changing the flavor much but it turns out it's a pretty damn good sauce by itself. Sometimes basic is the way to go. Especially since this pepper has some pretty unique properties all by itself

I completely understand. Didnt realize there was such a thing as seed scammers. Ive been lurking for a while and just joined, I guess it feels like Ive been here a while. Thanks for the advice.

No worries man. Also, if money is an issue there are some pretty reputable seed sellers on here that have very reasonable prices. Member TrentL comes to mind with Lawrence family farms. I think his seed packs are like $3 a piece. Not sure if he's still doing it but he did have a THP discount too you can redeem at checkout. You might need to do some digging to find it though cuz I don't remember when or where I saw it.

I understand and I didnt see it that way but I see where youre coming from. Is there an admin that can delete this?

Stick around and make some friends by being active and engaging. Theres more than enough generosity to go around once you get settled. And just a quick explanation as to why new members asking for free stuff is frowned upon (because you're new and I don't expect you to know) is that on this site and other gardening sites, "seed scamming" is an unfortunate commonplace. They join for the sole purpose of getting free stuff and disappear just as quickly as they arrived. I'm sure this isn't the case with you but it's still in the back of people's minds. Enjoy the site! I hope to see you stick around!

#1639903 Black Soldier Fly Composting

Posted by Edmick on 28 June 2019 - 10:26 AM

Ideally you would have multiple compost bins/piles in different stages of decomposition but if that's not feasible then adding to an existing compost pile is fine but it will take longer for the process to be "complete" because you're constantly adding fresh material. Having said that, the fact that the compost is already active with microbial life, the process of decomposition will be faster

I think the birds are your best bet for controlling those bastards. Can also use a black light at night to find them and pick them off manually. A little more time consuming but very effective.

I'm glad to hear a few other people are having a similar experience with the slowness to ripen to a full red color.  I've had a bunch of peppers for a while now, but they refuse to ripen to a red color.

If this keeps up, I may quietly shift gears to the "Sri Lankan Chili GREEN".

Have you tried them green? They are incredible. They have more depth in my opinion.

I've finally decided on a plant. She's PACKED full of pods. I'll be harvesting them green because I prefer the flavor over ripe red. These are KILLER in a stir fry
