  • I pronounced all my overwinters dead today. They were badly neglected over the winter while we were focusing all our energy on the new baby. This year's crop will now be 100% fresh from seed.

Ditto. Not a single OW survived. Out with the old, in with the new

Same thing here. While we were down under on our bucket list voyage, an ice storm hit here and collapsed my home made shelter. Worst was the loss of my manzanos and rocotto.

    2 years on my OW's.
They get dirt this year, and new ones for this next 2 years OW's.
Roughly 40 plants going outside in a week, feels good to get started again!

Very nice! Will you be going full on outside 24/7 or just starting your hardening off process?

Because my garden is actually at my father's house a few miles away, I think the best I can do will be to give them a few days of 18/6 HPS lighting (they're currently under 12/12 MH), then start them off in a part-shade area and hope for the best. I did something similar last year with good results, because it's actually not that warm here yet.

Ah okay, sounds like a solid plan. I got a couple of burned plants this year despite starting off in partial shade, so my next batch will definitely be going into as much shade as I can find in my yard. Good luck to you!
Finally I've bounced back from losing my plants over the winter. Half a dozen new sprouts and counting for 2014...
Our new son is 4 weeks old today and 80% of my 3-4 month old plants are dead. A shift in priorities, perhaps?
Came home today to find that birds have pecked holes in 2 of the 3 CGN21500's I had picked out to enter in the fair this Sunday.
Both nights of Phish in Alpharetta, GA were killer.

I was at Big Cypress new years eve 2000. It's a shame I don't remember most of it though...

Big cypress is an excellent recording. Wednesday was my 20th Phish show, but I've slowed down quite a bit from how things used to be.

My eyes got lucky this time, but it's the asthma that's the real bitch. I gotta get a respirator for making powder, and start doing it outside somehow.

Yeah, I'm glad my plant ended up yellow. Wasn't sure when I bought it from Pepper Joe.
Harvested 3 ripe pods today. Biquinho Yellow is delicious and the Billy Boy Red Douglahs...gotta build up some nerve for those guys.
My Spicy Mustard Habs are GIGANTIC, and not even ripe yet - suntan only. I'm predicting 2 overwinters...

Nice!!! Whats the flavor on the mustard habs? Ive never tried one

I haven't tried one yet, they're all probably another few weeks from being ripe but I'll report back when they're ready. CGN21500 is officially a new favorite though, comparable to Orange hab in heat and flavor but kind of fruity as well. Plus, they're beautiful purple/peach color.
My pepper plants all survived the flood last night. The tomatoes weren't so lucky...

    Nice! Bummer about the tomatoes

It happens. I should've mounded them up higher. I don't even eat them though, they're for family. Still got 3 tomatoes, 6 okra, 2 squash, and 22 hot peppers as of now.

Gotcha! The most important thing is the pepper plants! Glad they all made it!
