GERMINATION CHART

I set out to increase the ambient heat  by supplementing with a space heater directed at the propagation level in the grow stand. Possibly to much of a good thing, I left the heater on high and forgot and after 6 hrs I realized and shut it off. Granted I'm using an inferred thermometer that measures surface temps but the soil clocked in at at about 90-93 F. Hopefully I didn't boil the seeds in their moist environment. I'm still playing with added heat but keeping it on low and I'll see what happens. The seeds were only sown a few days ago.

 

If I'm understanding what I'm looking at, the chart is showing the temp range 77-86 was the best and quickest temp range for spouting and the fringe temps of 68 and 95 still allowing for fair germination rates.

 

So, I think I'm okay. I'll keep you posted.

 

That said it got me wondering and I came across this chart that I'm sharing for THP community.

 


Starting Seeds/ seedlings in the cold basement

Im looking for ideas on a way to get supplimental heating to my growlight stand. The seedlings germinate on heat mat but the air temp is pretty cold. I have success but looking for better results. The plants grow slowly and often have purple tinged leaves. Suggestions ? Thanks in advance.

Serrano?

Is this a serrano plant? I didnt think they had silvery leaves, fuzzy stems.

Great taste but non appealing smell to fermented sauce

This past weekend I processed a mash that was fermented then aged for two years in the refrigerator. The look was bright and fresh, no mold, ect. It was cooked for 15 minutes, blended, then cooked another 20 minutes, then bottles. It's getting good reviews on taste but not so good on aroma.

 

Is the off aroma "normal" for a fermented hot sauce (no vinegar)?

 

I used up a half bottle with no stomach distress, thinking in the back of my head "did this go bad?"

 

Any thoughts, suggestions are appreciated.

Seedling/plant progression under T8's in the cellar

Progression of chiles under T8 lights. Since these pics, I've moved most outside into an unheated greenhouse. I'll follow up with some more Photos soon.

 

The larger plants were sown at the very end of January and put on a heat mat
