  • Why is the inside of some of my pods black? They look pretty normal on the outside (maybe just a shade lighter in color) but when I cut into them, they are black on the inside? It's only a few pods, I was just curious if I'm doing something wrong.

Thanks. I just wanted to be sure it wasn't something I needed to fix.

In theory there had to be a hole in the skin - possibly too small for human eyes to perceive, but large enough for a spore to enter. Not sure how you'd fix that. Even if the hole was caused by bugs, insecticides would also kill off beneficial insects, which wouldn't be ideal. A daily coating of wax would be more hassle than it's worth if it's only a few pods here and there.

Well...dont consider it too much of a loss, they wouldn't have been very hot....from what I understand high capsaicin content inhibits mold growth.
Zac talked me into trying a taste of some ghost pepper sauce made with extract. It was very nasty and had some kind of a weird taste. It's hard to explain, but it was very bad. That is all.
Ordered a box of fresh pods from Sicman. They should be here today. Looking forward to starting some videos for the new season! :) Good Times!

I've been hiding out in the cave waiting for the fresh pods to start showing up again. The box showed up yesterday :)

We did the yellow morugas tonight... It was rough! Uploading the video now. I'll get it posted in the morning. Its pretty bad at the end. Definitely need a graphic warning on it. Trying to remember why I do this to myself :) Good Times.
Well.... The season for fresh pods is finally coming our way (here in Tx.) I'm getting pretty excited to try some new "fresh" pods. Good Times!

Made up some infused salt a few weeks ago. The wife swears she's not a chili head, but since she got her hands on that salt every meal I eat has some pretty good heat!
Lesson Learned! Don't cook scorpions in a skillet on the stove (unless you're trying to work up your tolorance to pepper spray) Thought I'd make up some superhot chicken for me and the boy....We had to open all the windows and evacuate the wife and kids :)

Grinding a bunch of fresh horse radish root will mask the strong pepper aromas coming from the skillet.
