If you have never had an authentic bowl of ramen, you are missing out. Find out the nearest ramen joint to your area and get out there STAT.   For the rest of you have love yourself a tasty, steaming bowl of noodley goodness, post your pics and add location details and help out the uninitiated.   I'll start with this one. Kara-Miso Ramen (literally spicy miso) from a chain store called Ramen Bandai (formerly Kurumaya Ramen). Was good for what it was, but since they took out their signature garlic from the miso (name change and chain consolidation I think) it just doesn't hit the spot anymore. :-(   Still enjoyed it though!

Hey y'all. A recent discussion with THP about Cuban sandwich's in another thread has inspired me to begin this thread. What is a sandwich? According to wiki... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandwich I myself shall endeavor to post a Sandwich of the Month for every month. This month I tip my hat to one of my favorite sandwiches, The Cuban. While I encourage y'all to post up your Cuban for SOTM, for the sake of popularizing the thread, feel free to post your sandwich. Be it BLT, turkey sub, gyro, po'boy, etc. Some rules. 1 ~ Meet the criteria as linked above according to wiki. 2 ~ True, burgers are sandwiches but as we have other threads devoted to them, we will not include them here in this thread. No burgers. 3 ~ List ingredients...
I made my Usual Pancakes (Buckwheat) on Sunday and used a spicy plum sauce I made (don't recall what pepper I added), went a bit over board with apples, drowned out the great taste of the pancakes lol. Added reconstituted prunes as well, topped with cinnamon. Still tasted great :)
I made a jerk chicken today with 10 Foodarama yellow scotch bonnets. This was my first time making Jerk from scratch. I washed the chicken with vinegar and water, made cuts through the chicken, and then used this marinade. https://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/jerk-chicken I smoked the chicken on my Big Green Egg, indirect at 275 with half a handful of cherry wood chips. I started the dark meat 45 minutes before throwing on the breasts. Cooked until the breasts were done and then removed all of the chicken. We used some the remaining jerk marinade to season some red beans, and I ate the beans with quinoa. The beans and chicken were very good. The low temperature cook resulted in tender flavorful chicken. I am going to stick with...
Their is a "Meat Pie" thread in the other section, figured might just do a general one.   Did a quickie Shortbread Apple Pie, looks messy but was realy satisfying :)   Used Walkers Scottish shortbread, then filled with cut garden apples previously frozen, topped with Cinnamon, Ginger, Allspice, Cloves, Nutmeg and Chipotle. Coated with a water/honey/cornstarch mix.
Wife don't eat red meat and has a procedure tomorrow that requires her not to eat . Iron skillet and oven . Sorry I'm in heaven and have to shout it out lol The little things in life. Only had burger patties because Aldi screwed up a delivery but it's a bacon cheese burger
Nervous, me...   $17.99/lb. Wagyu/Angus crossbred beef. One chance to do it right.   Salt and pepper, a brushin' with olive oil.     I let the grill preheat for 20 minutes, wanted it HAWT...     First good sign, after 5 minutes I got a terrific sear...     Both sides seared, put them on a cooler burner to reach 140 degrees, about 6 minutes/side.   This is how they turned out, and beef flavored M&M doesn't come close to how good this was!!     I have a whole tenderloin in the freezer I was going to smoke, but these were just too good. Decisions, decisions..........
Here are some pics of my home smoker in action. Marinated pork ribs slow smoked over Hickory wood at 225F, basted, removed and wrapped in aluminum foil and cooked 2 more hours, tender, fall off the bone good. I served with homemade coleslaw, grilled corn, cornbread, plenty of homemade bbq sauce in hot and mild, Pecan pie and ice cream for desert. This is how we Southern Boys do it!
