Dougthehead 2023 Glog

I guess now is as good a time as any to start a grow log. I'm currently growing under a Barrina 2000 led grow light. I like how you tinker with your aerogarden!
I found out that not adding fertiliser the first two weeks and covering the holes of the aerogarden until germination prevents algae grow on the sponges.

your going to end with a lot of nice and loaded plants with all those supplies 👍

I'll try that on the next go round because I definitely have algae growth. Luckily it hasn't had any negative effect so far that I can tell. I haven't typed it all out but I still have more of the wild varieties from Paul G starting to germinate in there. Some just starting as of yesterday.

Doan's nursery in Irving. It's a Vietnamese owned nursery with an amazing selection of vegetables that are from all over the world. They have stuff this year that I have never heard of and I have been going there for 5 years.
I’m in Irving all the time. I’ll have to stop by and check it out. Thanks

Well, my favorite quote is "A calm sea never made a skilled sailor". That applies to many things in life, and growing peppers is definitely one of them. After only germinating about 50% of my 72 cell tray, having multiple helmet heads that didn't make it, and some damping off, that batch was cut down to about 25 survivors, which I then nuked with some full strength hydroponic solution on accident. Most of those should pull through hopefully after flushing them with distilled water, but definitely not the best way to start sensitive seedlings.

But, I have backup plans for my backup plans, and that's going wonderfully. I think I'm only going to be using the Grodan cubes from here on out with distilled water. Far less variables to account for, and helmet heads never seem to be an issue.

A little behind schedule for this area, but these replacements should do well coupled with their older cousins already growing that went through my torture treatment.
