free Free Yellow Rocoto Seeds

SEEDS WENT OUT TODAY! TUESDAY OCTOBER 26.

OFFER CLOSED!

Hey Guys and Gals,
Just wanted to offer up some Yellow Rocoto seeds to the first 5 people to respond. Continental US ONLY! No SASBE or anything. Just PM me your information and they will go in the mail on Wednesday. Here is a pod shot...

Nice offer Josh. Beautiful pod. How hot does it get in your area? Do you think I would have a chance growing them down here in 90 - 105 degree heat if I keep them in the shade? I want to get in line but if they won’t grow down here, I will give people who have a better chance of actually growing them the opportunity. I have heard they don’t like hot 100+ weather.

They get somewhat big and lanky. It spreads out more than up. I had 3 pubescens going. 1 in a pot and 2 in the ground. 2 of the plants were in full sun. The other was behind my above ground pool where it barely received any direct light. Both of my in ground plants produced pods. For the second year in a row, my potted rocoto did not set one pod. In terms of the temperatures, we had hotter weather than usual this summer over an extended period of time. Basically high 90's with a couple days over 100. This went on July through August. As a result, I think you probably can pull it off if you grow them in the shade. I would not recommend growing them in containers though. For me the plants grow and look great but they just won't set. I however, am not that great at container growing.

I'll take some, thanks! :)

Rocotos that will grow out here were actually on my wish list, and I think I have similar weather to Beaglestorm.

Just PM me your information and they are yours. I can't guarantee anything in terms of whether or not they will grow for you in Texas. There are a lot of variables when it comes to weather. I would suggest you plant them in the ground and in a spot that gets midday shade. Hopefully that will increase your chances of success.

Is the offer still up for more takers, or was laserguy the last

I can probably scrape together a few more seeds but my bigger concern is shipping. I am sending them out in bubble envelopes. Do you know if they make you fill anything out when mailing to Alaska like they do with international mail?

No, its part of US so don't think so, I beleive all you do is pay shipping and thats it.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I mailed the seeds today. Let me know if there are any problems.
