Heard one estimate that some areas may see 15" of rain... just judging by the flooded back yard, I would say between yesterday and today so far, we've gotten at least 4-6 inches... some wind damage - mainly knocked over plants and some blown over (ones that had held up through the wind in the past and weren't staked)...

I had thought about getting some visqueen to make covers for the peppers, but with the wind we've gotten, I think that might have ended up doing more damage.

Just riding the storm out now. G'luck to the rest of y'all getting this stuff too... maybe we'll be able to dry out some next week... LOL
 
i got 5 inches the friday night! and 3 inches since then. im under tornado,flood and tropical storm alert,lol.. debby you suck!!!!
 
My garden is currently beneath brackish water =(

My house was close to having water inside too, when I evacuated. My other two gardens are maybe ok though. The one underwater has about 65 plants in it.

I had put a couple buckets out to try to get a little rainwater to water the inside plants... of course, that was before I had to try to sandbag the doors and start bailing the livingroom... LOL

The shopvac helps, but even so extra bailing was needed. We've dumped well over 100gals so far this morning...

Flooding worse today than during the hurricanes/trop storms we had in the past... and we had several....

Hope it picks up a little momentum and gets the heck outta here soon... LOL
 
That is exactly what i have, it take my seedling away to from 50 only left me 5 or so, it suck, but im over it, it's full of sun shine from now on.
 
Wow guys I'm feeling bad for you guys. That really sucks man! Hope everyone is OK. If it helps you can send the rain this way. Haven't had rain in a month or two.

The water receeded last night in our area. Cross your fingers for Ken, as he's right on a canal (I've got a couple blocks between the canals and me). The storm isn't moving, so the way the winds are blowing, it forces additional water up into the canals and it gets really tense around high tide.

We'll get more rain today, but we're staying home again and are trying to take advantage of the dry spell at the moment to let the dogs out, shore up some of the stuff outside better, and throw some mulch bags outside the sliding glass doors (the sandbags we have are old and falling apart)... hopefully that will get us through the rest of the storm... more rain is coming, but hopefully the bands will be thin enough that the ground water can settle between bands...

On the plus side, most of the peppers look to have fared ok so far (little breakage and bendage), but not sure how they will deal with being damp for so long before being able to dry out... time will tell....

Alls well up here (thus far)... 11.7 inches of rain fell yesterday with 1-3 predicted for today...

So long as the winds stay down, we could have 11 more and be ok...

I was wishing I had my camera yesterday, cars were floating in parking lots, a car lot had 50-75 cars submerged up to their roof (near Jasmine and 19 on the west side). The mall parkinglot looked bad too... jasmine blvd had what looked to be 3 feet (cars up to doorhandles under water). There is a picture of a local parking lot on facebook with a car clearly on its side, with just a tiny bit of roof sticking out of the water...

The movie theater had water coming in from outside, up through the drains, and in through the roof... they think they can re-open soon, but from the pictures that were posted I'm not sure.

I definitely feel like I was spared from the worst of it. The worst parts for me are the garden (though they may yet survive) and maybe 4 inches in the garage.

ALSO I just checked the forecast, they expect another 10-15 inches of rain in the next 5 days....
 
LOL... I live on Westport... just north of the mall on the same side of 19 (behind where Target had been)... just after I took the pic of the front yard above, someone tried driving down the road... water was up to their headlights...

We consider ourselves pretty lucky here... we're at 8' above sea level, so we were worried about the water getting pushed up the canals at the end of the street which would have been major... luckily it never came over the top, so the current in the street was able to flow out to the gulf (as well as out the drainage system, but it was so overwhelmed, the majority had to go the other way).

Am working from home today so I can keep an eye on the weather channel... the next band looks pretty narrow, so it may not be too bad - as long as it doesn't occur at a high tide anyways...

Lot of street flooding still in the area, so if you're out and about, be safe... and stay dry! :)
 
HOLY CRAP BRO, do you need a canoe?? That is freakin rediculous! I thought the rain I got here in Hampton Roads VA was bad on friday, but I was grossly mistakend. I feel for you man!
 
LOL... I thought about getting an inflatable a few years back when we had 4 hurricanes go through in a short period of time... but even then, it never got this high...

I've got a few projects to do now... first is get some channels dug so the water in the back drains better... second is to check on inflatables... LOL

We're having fun in Sarasota, too.

Some of the plants haven't fared so well, I def see some snapped at the "trunk" ...

That being said, the round shape of the Topsy's is pretty aerodynamic and they've done remarkably well ...

I'll have to take some pics and update this post ... wait until you see how close the pile of falled pine limbs is to some of the planters (inches!) ...

Ugh.

its no better here in O town. my yard is a 1/2 acre mud pie. i was busy yesterday so i only got to move half my plants. the other half im going to move to the carport right now ... sigh


id still prefer this to earthquakes tho :)
