    Walmart "Habanero"

There is no ignorance in asking a question :)   The Calyx is among several features (i.e. flowers, seeds, leafs..etc) which decide (to a certain degree) the pepper specie. even though each family has its own unique calyx shape, within the same family there are groupings or even singled-out...

    Pod variation on single plant?

Yeah some of mine are very bhut looking, and some 7 pot looking and some scorpion tailed. But I like the taste of them and they look pretty so I'm not combining ;) Combining =complaining

    Pod variation on single plant?

Okay thanks, the seeds were sold to me as yellow moruga scorpions, and some of the pods have definitley shown the characteristic tails, but as you can see others haven't, so I'm putting that down to it being a cross of some sort

Sorry for being ignorant but could someone explain the difference in calyx between annuum and Chinense?

    Pod variation on single plant?

My yellow moruga/7 pot /whatever others have told me it is has been throwing out wildly different shaped pods all season. Has anyone else noticed this with individual plants or does anyone have an explanation for this? I understand that genetic instability is common in new strains but this is...

seeds Anyone got any Open pollinated/hybrid seeds for sale/trade?

I wish I didn't have so many damn crosses this year....in the opposite boat :0 Fair enough, I just like the variety really, im still pretty sure my 'moruga scorpion yellow' seeds I bought were crosses, and the pod shape seems so inconsistent with no tails at all. http://imgur.com/oTVcnjk

seeds Anyone got any Open pollinated/hybrid seeds for sale/trade?

I'm looking for some cross pollinated seeds to grow next year just for the interest of growing a few hybrids, but i have only grown 2 varieties this year and they've been kept about 50m apart. Does anyone have any seeds from peppers kept in close proximity to other varieties or deliberately...

    "fake" yellow morugas?

That's good to hear!  I cut down on watering a lot, only watering when they started to wilt or were very dry looking which seemed to help fruit setting as well.

    "fake" yellow morugas?

    "fake" yellow morugas?

Thanks for the advice, I've cut back on water and started only watering when it starts to Wilt, and the new peppers forming are really gnarly looking, very wrinkled and a bit more pointy!

    "fake" yellow morugas?

another pepper on the same plant had "ripened" despite only being about 8mm across and i tasted it, there was a fair bit of heat but nothing extreme, but i guess thats probably partly due to the fruit not being fully formed?

    "fake" yellow morugas?

UPDATE: just returned from my holiday and the pepper pictured has ripened :) but it still doesnt look like a moruga to me.. will pick it and taste it tomorrow, seeing as ive had no sleep in the past 36 hours.

    "fake" yellow morugas?

Will do! The one pictured hasn't changed in size in over a week and the others forming look basically identical with no hint of a tail. One on another plant from the same seeds is a little more elongated but again no tail and quite smooth and shiny. I will post pictures when they ripen but I...

Any ideas what these could be?

Well my plants are supposed to be one of the original serrano types. There are many newer strains out there that are not as fuzzy and may in fact be crosses rather by chance due to open pollinated or by choice of the grower. As long as the plant makes peppers you like it really does not matter...
