Good afternoon chili heads,
What's a reliable way to calculate application rates per element (mostly macronutrients, NPK and Ca/Mg/S)?
Here's what I'm thinking.
I'm using a 7-4-10 fertilizer so that means any volume of unconcentrated fertilizer contains:
7.0% Nitrogen (N) = 70,000ppm
4.0%...
Much appreciated, guys. I might do a growing log (glog?) sometime in the near future if I can mediate this issue. Should be sorted after I use all of that great advice!

Would you keep all vents in the dome closed after soaking or keep them open for better air flow (I tend to side with this option)?

I clean everything in a soap/bleach solution before I plant anything so I suspect the seeds might be bringing in the fungus. Maybe a treatment of peroxide before planting might solve the problem.
Overwatering is my main issue, and maybe I need more practice with rockwool. Misting the top when...
Hi everyone,
I'm having a heck of a time germinating chilies in rockwool lately. I have a setup that should be more than adequate with a heat mat, humidity dome, and hygrometer (see picture below). I'm perfectly capable of reaching the 85-80F temperatures needed for pepper germination, however...
Make sure to have some air movement in your room. Not enough flow to blend the plant over, but enough to cause the leaves to 'dance' a little. That will help the plant grow sturdier indoors and you may not need any support beyond that.
A proper light that does not cause the plant to become...
Seconded on the fertilizer burn idea. You said you're using only compost? Definitely need some inert substrate in your mix, think coco coir, perlite, peat moss..etc

It could be a multitude of issues . What are you fertilizing them with? What's in your soil/potting mix?
Some pictures wouldn't hurt either. Pale/yellowing leaves typically means a nitrogen deficiency but could also be an issue with pH

Well, sometimes bigger, faster-growing fruit like bells may contract something called blossom end rot (BER), which is a result of a calcium deficiency in combination with watering issues. But seeing how you're growing cayenne they are, at least in my experience, less likely to develop that...
Some people, including myself, would prefer to have the cayennes ripen to their full ripeness (ie. bright red). However, some peppers are picked almost exclusively green like jalapenos. It all depends on what you're using them for and flavour preferences.
Fruit maturity just takes time, so long...
Welcome! I'm also keen on making sauces with peppers I grow. Are those sauces fermented or fresh?
P.S. what is U.P?

Great, I'll be trialing some container pots with the soilless mix you suggested before using hydro nutrients as well as plants grown right in the soil using fish fertilizer.
Just thought I'd give an update on that botanicare cns17 product: it turns out it isn't even registered here in Canada so...
That's good to know. I also should have plenty of calcium present where I live since our bedrock is mostly limestone if I'm not mistaken. The only other limiting may be magnesium, but can Epsom salts be worked directly in the soil?
Forgive me but I'm a total noob when it comes to growing in...
