Ok, finally got to make some jelly. Red rocoto/tart cherry sugar free jelly. Came out really good. Does have a very "earthy" smell that I noticed when I opened the rocotos. It's not bad, just never noticed it before. Is that normal for rocotos?
So far, life has been in the way of anything setting. Hoping to make a batch this weekend and try it out. Can't decide if I want to do a straight rocoto jelly or add some fruit for the first batch.

Hey Malarky! Thanks for the info! I finally made it down to Detroit for a Lions game  and stopped at a market in Mexicantown and they had the frozen rocotos. Now for a shot at rocoto jelly
I got my biker billy seeds from Trentl and started them in January this year. The taste was great but I need to plant a couple more plants this coming season.
I always wash before freezing just in case there is any critters. I always lay them out whole on a baking sheet and freeze them, then into vacuum bags and back into the freezer. I've had them stay great for a year.
Thanks sauce, I ordered from RFC just now. I'm gonna try the Numex lemon spice, Biker Billy, and Zapotec next year. I'll have to try and talk you into sharing your jala sauce recipe cause I love that stuff too
