The hard part will be a baccatum x eximium cross. I am getting closer and maybe it's just getting the right ones but it will take a while to find. I have a f2 of a pubescens x 19198 that is looking good and will be what I try to
Cross if I ever get a baccatum x eximium
Nothing is working so far. The f1 wasn't true and all attempts this year have failed. Most crosses don't make it past 21 days then abort. I'm getting closer but no luck so far.
I've read those charts , I hope they are right. It seems funny though that no one on here has crossed a eximium and a baccatum before and no where on the web are there any pictures of the hybrid flowers or anything else. A lot of people have referred to that crossing chart but you don't hear...
What makes you believe they will be infertile? Have you found any scientific evidence or just what you are guessing? I can find little to no information at all. The only thing I've read makes it seem possible but it was super rare to get them to cross. The lack of any information makes me more...
I have a baccatum x eximium that just sprouted and a pubescens x eximium that is setting fruit right now. So with a little luck and some time we will see if I can cross the two and drag some baccatum Gene's into pubescens!
I thought I read the spots on a baccatum flower are a dominant Gene so either way it is crossed the flower should look like a baccatum in the f1. There should be no heat. This year I am crossing a aji jobito with a cap 455 to get another heat less cross between baccatum and Chinese.
I am more worried about the opposite. Bonnie plants is in every major store and every place has the same varieties. The more big companies take over the less varieties there are to choose from. I don't like spreading f2s all over the place either and won't give out unstable seeds but the one...
My first cross ever was between a fatalli and a Maui purple because they were opposite and I wanted to see what was dominate and what was recessive. You could have ten people grow out the f2 until they were stabile and all ten could have something completely different.
It is a cross between a Hungarian black and a chocolate habanero. Some of my f2 are variegated and some have different flowers. Not sure what is going on with the genetics.
