    growing in south Texas

I just moved from San Antonio. By some shade cloth, it helps a lot. You always hear how much peppers love the sun, but not necessarily the San Antonio heat. I think I went with 50-60% shade???

    Another thread about leaf health

I wonder then if it could be just the placement of them in the Happy Frog soil? I hope thats the case because several of them are having this problem. Thanks for the reply!

    Another thread about leaf health

I just bought these pepper plants about 10 days ago and they were very healthy. I planted them in some Happy Frog soil and have been watering them about every other day. Now I am starting to have this problem with the curling of leaves. Im not sure if it is fungus or bacterial. I will get some...

    Is this calcium deficiency??

Well I checked my plants tonight and no aphids. I did not see any mites but I did see some very small "webs" on some of the plants...so I treated them as spider mites with pyrethrin. I dont know what else to do. I have some azamax that I may use if the pyrethrin does not work.

    Is this calcium deficiency??

Im here in San Antonio, I have about 20 plants and around half have this problem. I'm not sure what it is to be honest. I have no aphids or mites. I actually did the same thing this morning and watered with fish emulsion and CalMag. I do not think its nutes but I did do a foliar spray  about a...

If I don't move my plants into the shade will it do ok? (Houston Tx)

I live here in San Antonio and have been doing this for a few years. My plants do so much better in the summertime with a shade cloth. Right now I have them in full sun but in the next few weeks will place them under a shade cloth when it gets really hot. I have done well with  50-60% shade...

    Mulch around plants?

I was curious if anyone places mulch around their plants, either in the ground or in the pots. It gets really hot here in Texas and I have read people placing newspaper with hay/straw around the plants which helps reduce watering and stress on the plants. Anybody try it? My biggest worry is it...

    soil Happy Frog Potting soil

Its funny, I keep hearing how good Pro Mix is but you can not find it anywhere down here in Texas. I think next year though if I get the time I will make my own potting soil. Buying fox farms gets expensive really quick.

    soil Happy Frog Potting soil

Ok great. They are about 6-9 inches high and have several leaves on each plant. Very healthy. I bought a bag of worm castings, would you recommend me adding extra or just wait? I know Happy Frog already comes with it though.

    soil Happy Frog Potting soil

Hi everyone,   I normally buy Lucky Dog soil by Fox Farm but bought some Happy Frog instead because I just wanted to try something new. I am going to place some plants in it but was curious if I should add anything else to it or any other recommendation. I know this probably has been discussed a...

    condiment Holy Jolokia Ketchup

I'm kinda new here so not sure if this has been reviewed or not. But I recently ordered the Holy Jolokia Ketchup and it is very good and extremely hot (for me). $8 dollars per bottle and I believe it is well worth it. It has additional spices (cayenne, garlic, other spices) in it so its just not...
