    New plants

Thin out flowers if there are lots on a small plant . Sometimes the plant will do this on it's own. If its just one or 2 flowers I let them go. If you take out most of them (at the flower stage or when the peppers are still tiny) on a small plant early in the season you will get better...

    Adding silica to feeding schedule?

I add diatomaceous earth to my container mix just to be sure it's (silica) in there. I think it makes for a sturdier plant that can withstand high winds and hard rains better. I have no scientific data to back this up.

    Red Roccoto pollination

I have only one plant of the C. pubescens species growing this year. I know it won't cross pollinate with other species but can it self pollinate? I was told it needs a fellow plant to make any fruit.

    seeds MOA Scotch Bonnet seeds

Sometimes the aperture that the root first comes out of looks like it is open. If they haven't sprouted yet they will be fine. Yes a picture would be good for sure. Were they wet or damp?

    fertilizer Guano Fertilizers

I always add a little bat guano into my container soil to boost micro nutrients. I think it's a great idea, but wouldn't bother with making a tea. For a garden plot, I agree, it would be too expensive.

seeds Seeds germinating with seed coat still over cotyledons

I find soaking seeds (plain old water) for at least 12 hours or overnight helps, also planting just a little deeper reduces the problem. Maybe next year give it a try. Planting a little deeper makes the friction of the soil help pull the seed coat  off as they germinate. Too deep of course is no...

    Growing Aji Charapita

Soak seeds in a little water overnight and plant in a sterile medium (perlite, sand and peatmoss mixture and some natural nutrients for example) 1/8 inch deep in a small plastic pot, water and sit on a heat mat designed for germinating. Don't keep it too wet and don't let it dry out either. You...
