+1 for Goronong.   It's a great general purpose Chinense, with mild'ish flavor and low end hab heat. My Goronong plant was fairly prolific and early to set fruit as well.

You need a more long-term solution. Get some 40% shade cloth (large rolls of black can be had on Amazon for cheap'ish). Or you can use berlap and try to match the weave spacing to a 40% shade cloth. **I'm also in Sacramento.   For the immediate, you can certainly move them to a more shaded location.

How is yours doing? Of all my plants (50+ varieties) my Golden Ghost has the most fruit-set so far. It's doing really well with its vegetative growth as well. To me it seems like it's an annuum x chinense cross.

I'm not sure if the flavor justifies its surge in popularity; I think it was mostly the novelty of the bleeding calyx. Although 7 Pots in general are pretty impressive for flavor.
