pubescens Hottest Capsicum pubescens ?? anyone know ??

Hi Guy's

Does anyone know what variety is the hottest capsicum pubescens 🤔

I've seen some outlandish claims of upto 250,000 shu ! 😲🤪

But can't find any variety listed as such hottest I've found 60,000 shu.............🤔

Please enlighten me if you can ...............

Asked the question to Bing Copilot. This was (part of) the answer...

Yea right... 🙄

How many people would have questioned that?

It got wrong both the genus and the fact that it is not the hottest.

AI FTW

I heard equidorian pepper from hell was up there with the hottest, no idea what its rated at. I've had a few varieties that I feel are as hot as some Habanero's.

the site i buy from (pepperseeds.ca) claimed rio hualaga orange to be up to 100k, and had the ecuadorian from hell listed as 50k. no idea if this is reliable info or just guesses.

i did find the rio decently spicy, but it's the only pubescens i've ever eaten so i have no reference point.

and i didn't get any ripe ecuadorians last year. started all the pubes even earlier this year so hopefully i'll have a good haul come october.

@growyourown when does your season typically end up there?

i'm not super far north, about 43 degrees north, about level with rochester ny.

in the 5 or so years i've been growing peppers, frost warnings happened end of september once, but all other years have been mid-late october.

last year i started the pubes in mid-feb, and from 5 plants got approx. 50 ripe peppers, another 50 semi-ripe which did colour up more when left in a box for 1-2 weeks, and another 50 unripe.

this year i started them on january 1st. they are definitely way farther along, but they maxed out the 3" pots which may have stunted their further growth now that they are in beds outside. still going very well, and some pods are already forming.

next year i will aim to start around jan 18th, and/or be more prepared for second indoor up-pottings.

Good luck, I hope that you get many! This is my first year growing them, so I can't report any results growing in-ground. I'm trying 3 in 7-gallon grow bags, and 3 in 5-gallon plastic pots. I'll keep you posted on how well they grow in each!
