  • Temps at ground level under the heat lights in the greenhouse stay above 50. Planting my overgrown pepper plants in the A.M. tomorrow. In the rain and wind, of course, but not inside the greenhouse.
Time for plantout, even though temps still drop below freezing. Portable greenhouse arrives and frame put up. Heater purchased. Planting and covering next couple days. Pix in glog when finished.

2' tall with lots of flowers and some pods in 3.5" pots. Either bigger pots and more lights, or send them outside.
    Tired of lugging water.
6 weeks from planting seed to flowering. Is that unusual?

Only planted 2 of the Bolivian Rainbows, only one of them is an eager beaver.
DAMN. Aphids again???? A couple of warm days between snowstorms and the buggers must be able to smell out something green. Only 2 pods out of my ghetto hydro since planting in July,---too many aphid wars. Cutting them all back and spraying in preparation for spring. Got a load of little baby plants I don't want infested.

Tried all the nice fuzzy warm mother earth remedies. They are getting nuked this time.
When they go outside, I'm getting monthly shipments of lady bugs.

I found a way to get rid of cutworms, white flies... everything EXCEPT Aphids.... I may have to invest in some ladybugs as well
Finished the last of the potting. 49 out of 66, but a couple of the sprouts are still a bit young for transplanting, so may die. Mold in the aerogarden---had to get them out. Reapers a nogo. 1 may survive with an act of god.
Just returned from the Reno gun show. Nuts and more nuts. 1/2 of Califoo-foo showed up, 2 hr line to get in, ammo at double or more than 6 months ago, same with guns. Line for ammo was 3 hours, even at vastly inflated prices---except one vendor selling old Israeli stock---wooden boxes covered in dirt and cans rusty---over 1$ a round for popular calibers. Crazy desperate Californians buying everything in sight. All I came back with was bragging rights for attending what may be one of the...

I guess if you want ammo these days, you either need to get lucky at Wally world, pay through the nose at a gun show, or reload your own at a fraction of hte cost. I bought a reloading press after the 2008 election specifically to avoid this crap.

A buddy of mine is set up to reload .45 ACP. Unfortunately, I don't have anything that will shoot that. Might be a good excuse to buy a 1911 though... :-P

Saw the same between 2008 and 2010, then prices dropped after supply caught up and people bought smart instead of everything on the shelves. But even at full capacity, supply is not keeping up with demand---even on the calibers the gubbmint isn't snatching with fervor. Saw a box of 22 LR for $85 that I bought for $30 last year at full retail. (not a gun show)
Aerogarden maxed. Moved survivors to Ghetto Hydro and wove together with the Peach Octopus. Peach Habalokia,Hand Grenade Habenero,Reaper and TS Moruga in a cage match.

10 degrees. Finally, the outdoor bugs are dead. Now to keep the inside ones squished.
Chasing aphids. Back to the draring board. Starting to set pods, so no chemicals.

250 miles to the nearest garden or hydro store......But I think I got the little devils licked. For now.
Damned "sneak frost" arrived. No over wintering the couple of plants I had planned this year.

They might be okay if it was a mild frost. Just because the leaves are dead doesn't mean the whole plant is dead.
And the winner is---Douglah. First flower. Planted in hydro July 22nd, not even 3 months old and still on 12/12 lights. Ajijoe's Peach Habilokia soon to follow as they are on the plant, but not open yet.

All hydro. First in aerogarden, then to bigger--10 gallon tub--when overgrew the aerogarden. Bought 6-8" plants for outside and planted June 1st. A few tepins, no bhuts, and the habs are still not orange. Only a thai dragon got ripe pods, and most of them are still green.
Damn.3 month old Douglah popping flowers----still on 18/6 lights. May have to hand pollinate and save if it's an early superhot.
Peach habalokia, from ajijoe seed several inches taller than all others in the hydro and too close to lights. Best to tye over, or give it a "haircut"??

I would personally cut it back. Training is an option but I think you would be better off pruning.
