only from a can, and it was terrible. But I love turnips, and other root vegetables. I wanted to boil, slice, and grill it with salt and pepper.

then get on it man. this is something i do daily! just get a small pot with water, toss in the beets, set a timer for 45minutes and walk away. just do it! can beets, what's that all about! i even juice my beets. it won't be a mistake... just do it!

it's kind of like the difference between an ahi tuna steak and canned tuna. NO comparison.

cover the beets in olive oil and some balsamic, wrap in foil, roast for about an hour. once they're cool enough to touch peel 'em, make a salad with apples, endive, pecans and goat cheese, use the juice from the roasted beets as a dressing.. add a lil left over bacon fat to the dressing and more balsamic if you need it and boom, crazy good salad.
