    I think i'm going to give this growing in a bag thing a try. I'm hearing nothing but good things about it.

    Yeah I have noticed fabric pots need more frequent watering during the heat of summer. I may try some mulch over the top and see if that helps though.

    I'm pretty sure most of the water loss is occurring through the sides of the bag. Using a 'probe' type thermometer, I've measured cool soil temperatures from top to bottom. If water loss is a problem you could loosely wrap the wallybags in kitchen garbage bags or something similar. Leave some room for some air movement to avoid mushy areas. Of pack them together snugly and place some sort of windbreak around the sides of the cluster.
    My 3 TSMB at work are sucking up water like crazy. Looks like it is time for a pot up.

    Instead of watching SnK/AoT, why not watch Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, it's significantly superior.

    For the time being I like it because it provides an interest twist on giant monster/robot genre, sorta reminds me of EVA. Watching it because one of my junior high English students recommended it. I am not hardcore into manga/anime anymore, but noted TTGL in case I get around to it.

    Sorry all, was busy this weekend. My first job in Japan was as an English teacher on the JET Program. The event I went to last night was a networking event for current JETs and JET Alumni to meet with members of the Japan Association of Corporate Executives. Basically rubbing elbows with top execs, ambassadors, and the first lady.

    JET is a government sponsored cultural exchange program that places foreign nations into elementary/junior/high schools in Japan to a) increase awareness of the rest of the world and b) assist with language acquisition. They also place people into local government.
    Was planning to chunk the cups I have on my desk at work, it's been over a month. Looked over today and saw seedling had sprouted! Now just gotta remember what it was I planted in this cup.
    Found out Miso Ramen and Bibimbap are among the foods my daughter eats for her school lunch. AND they can get refills. OO;

    Haha, I don't have as much room as you think. No back yard, only a front yard, most of it is grass for the kids to play in. Just doing my best with what I got.
    Gaaah, we got aphids! Stupid sakura tree! Will probably need to cut down all the leaves and smaller branches this weekend if we're to win the battle. f**kers just do NOT STOP COMING.
    Found some black aphids on one of my melon seedling and my overwintered cascabel. f**kers must have overwintered b/c they showed up at the end of the season last year. Will bring the DOOM this weekend.

    Bombard them with high decibel level Justin Bieber 24/7. They'll soon lose the will to live and kill themselves.
    Do fresh and frozen peppers typically taste the same? If so, then I dunno how I feel about Aji Limo.

    Frozen are usually soft, but not sure how much the taste would change.

    I haven't noticed any change in taste unless they were freezer burnt.

    In that case, yeah, not sure I like Aji Limo. I think it's definitely more suited to cooking than eating fresh.
    FML. Turns out the neighbor behind us has an aphid problem on one of his trees. It is literally dripping nectar.

    He actually didn't know about it, but then I hardly see him taking care of his trees anymore. As for ladybugs, yeah I dunno of any sources here for that, but I may need to look soon just in case.

    Small mantis will go after aphids also, it's really funny to watch because they don't like having to hit their faces on the ground. If you see any of those around put it over there.

    We had a mantis last year. I dunno where it came from, but it hung out in my pepper plants for awhile. Need to find another one!

    Well that was a crap ton of rain, at least I don't have to water for the next week or so. OO;
    It's settled, gonna be stateside from July 21 to August 10. WTF am I gonna do about my plants???!?!!

    Really really big bucket of water. Place cloth in it. Other end in pots so it wicks over. I'd test this out now to make sure it works though.

    haha yeah i really wanted to build self watering buckets/containers this year, but those kinds of buckets and cheap non-clear totes are damn near impossible to find in this country. that is my excuse for a lot of stuff, but it is true. ah japan... -_-

    cruzzfish, yeah that was my first plan, though judging from peoples comments on the thread i made, i might be better off actually trying to find someone to look after the plants.
    Turns out I have another Reaper seedling. Guess I better start looking for a home for it!
