Mandolin slicers can be scary. My fiancee wanted to be first to try ours and started slicing a potato. 2 strokes in and she looks up at me to say how easy it was. Stroke #3, she lost the tip of her finger. Lots of blood and 2 months to heal. I am designated mandolin slicer now.

Agreed! She actually tried it again last week for the first time in a year. Used an Ove Glove, the safety guard, and the vegetable holder. Safety first but watching her was pretty funny.
