Most are about a 1ft-1.5ft tall at the moment. (just noticed I spelled pour/poor wrong too!) The biggest ones are the Pubescens which have gotten pretty wide. I went out tonight and tied them down to their stakes (finally!). Now just need to bring them slightly closer together for protection and hopefully things will be okay.
Since you said "bring them slightly closer together" is it safe to assume they are in pots? If so, and you don't have a better way to shelter them, lay them on their sides, with pot taking the brunt of the wind.
Note I said "IF he doesn't have a better way to shelter them." Bringing them in is best, but if he has no other alternatives, such as from a lack of space, laying on side is as good as it gets. I grew up in hurricane country and know how winds shift, honey, so chill.
Actually mx, in our area during a typhoon the wind generally follows the same direction (beats me I dunno why). Although in general it is so strong it doesn't really matter.
I can't bring them in (no space), and if we get a lot of rain and/or wind a tarp wouldn't help. I may have an area that can be used as a wind block, so we'll see. we'll see how things go tonight when the rain is supposed to start. I figure if I group them together in a big block they shouldn't get blown over, the only thing left is to block the wind on the oncoming side. Okinawa will take the brunt of the storm, hopefully us mainlanders will only deal with heavy rain.
fil its physically impossible for the win to blow the same direction the whole time. Just watch... Ive sat through I dont know how many hurricanes and one typhoon. WIND TOGGLE ENGAGED
