I've lived in the bay area all my life. This was the hardest shake i ever felt. I guess being six miles from the epicenter and on alluvial sand doesn't help. I cant believe my house is still on its foundation. I feel lucky we only lost some glassware and such.
What I'm referring to for a few years from now, is that the fault line has been going off further and further south, and every other one is giant compared to the one that happened earlier.
Oy - hope everything's ok at your place. It's the not-so-obvious you gotta look out for. I moved to the L.A. area shortly before the Northridge quake (6.7) - that was plenty for me.
