I tend to cook with my nose. When my wife makes cookies she always sets he timer. Me, I just pu them in the oven and let my nose tell me when they are done. Surprisingly I nail it every time. Maybe all those cookies I had to make in the navy. WTF

I was a cook on the Midway aircraft carrior. My crew and I would make three kinds of cookies a day and two thousand of each daily. YIKES? Yep.

I tried that with a bag of popcorn last night,went to set 2;45 on the timer.I actually put 24;50.Put it out of my mind till I saw a wall of smoke heading out of the kitchen.Holy crap it was thick nasty smoke.Those damn bags are tough.Burnt the corn down to a black ball and the bag never caught fire.
