I normally love night shift. And I'll like this one because I'll be covering for someone else's unit, so that means all of the major decisions are on them... but I'll just be there to provide company support to our contractors, so looks like I'll have a week or so to catch up on Rome, Vikings, and all of the other shows on Amazon! Call me when ya need me!
And all of the work will still be done by our contract inspectors... so I'll just be there to say "yes, you have to do what he told you to, otherwise you're out of compliance with federal regulations."
It pays well. Sundays are double time. AND.... I just got an email today from corporate saying they have $77 million they'll be distributing to employees through "special contributions" to our 401Ks... on top of the dollar for dollar match up to 6% they already give us. SWEET!
You ever watch that show Holmes on Homes? The home inspector guy? That's what I do, but for a chemical plant. There are good inspectors who really know their stuff, and then there are guys like me who have to consult the code books every time a question comes up... how can anyone remember all of this stuff???
Just found out it was all a lie. I have to go on nights because our day shift company guy doesn't trust the night shift contractor to handle the work. I'm in the contractor's corner
