Lasagna, Pork and Beans, Stews, Soups, Chicken and Dumplings, just about any casserole. All are better straight off the stove but they work good outta the freezer.
well he's diabetic and has heart problems so low carb and nothing too greasy/fatty. I was thinking turkey meat loaf, and maybe chicken enchiladas or something.
If he has something he can pull out of the freezer and microwave instead of ordering a pizza it is better for him. He rarely evens goes to the grocery store because he just orders out all the time.
I'm just saying he could have salad delivered just as easily. This one pizza place when I was a teen used to put green olives on pizza for me. I guessed they got them from their salad bar. (Its delicious f**kers) No other place has ever thought of it and I dont tell them.
Ha they have green olives on pizza all over here, kalmata olives, etc. One of my favorites used to be italian beef on pizza with giardiniera. But anyway, my pops has been doing a little better, he has started the salad thing more often, he just doesn't feel full with it and ends up snacking on BS. I was going to cook up some blackened chicken breast and cut it up for salads for him, but I can only get out there so often.
Grill up some turkey burgers and freeze them cooked. Heat in micro, and put on fresh bun. You can also freeze cooked chicken wings. Grill them up as well for a good flavor.
Honestly I thought you'd have all the healthy frozen delicious meal ideas. Point earlier, you find a good place that values its customers and anything is possible. Like maybe having some of his regular places replace his pizza's or whatever with a meal you chose. Maybe a grocery store nearby will deliver? He still has to choose what to eat. People will still eat delivered pizza with a freezer full of healthy options. And I cant believe you two have it so easy finding green olived pizz...
It's not easy from what I know it's one place! Black olives from a can taste like moldy wet cardboard. Green olives taste like olives. I always ask. The answer is usually no.
its not hard to find here. I'm surprised its not more common in NYC. Heckle, my dad is a giant lazy man child. I could make all sorts of meals that I'd enjoy, but he's a meat and potatoes (sans the potatoes) type. I'm just trying to kickstart better eating habits for him. All I can do is try, if it doesn't work out and he keeps eating pizza, well at least I gave it a shot. I know when I have something quick to make in the freezer I'll grab that over spending the ca...
My wife makes meatloaf, chili, etc. with turkey meat and adds a crapload of shredded carrots, bell peppers, and minced celery. Nobody could taste the difference but it made sure the kids would get some veggies in them.
