This is really the first time you've noticed that??? That's why it's a good idea to always have supplies on-hand. Doesn't hurt to get a few extra cans of food and bottles of water each time you shop, to build up an emergency supply over time. Get a gas can, fill it, and keep it somewhere safe. But for both, you need to rotate supplies from time to time.

It is always a good idea to have about two weeks of supply on hand. On the other hand, the blizzard is the least of your worries. The American dollar is DEAD. Oil prices and Walmart is a great example, but you can do your own research. Hyperinflation is coming..the fiat currency is always destined to fail. I'm not here to scare you, but to inform you.
