Yea. I'm at the foothills so the weather is a little different than it is in the rest of the city. There's a college a few blocks away and they have their own weather station but even that isn't always accurate and sometimes the site is down.
I actually use multiple sites, when the info need is important enough. In addition to what hogleg said, you need to consider that weather forecasting is not an exact science.
To help with the plants, if you suspect the wind might be too strong, lay the pots on their sides as soon as you are able. That way the wind can't knock them over and you eliminate/reduce the risk of breakage. Then just upright them after the wind passes.
