We have heaps of feral cats in my HOA which is semi rural. They don't like the smell of my dog and avoid my yard unless traversing the fence to go somewhere else. And because my dog will kill a cat.

I heard that putting chicken wire on the ground around the plants will keep cats out. Supposedly, the cats get their feet caught in the mesh. Never tried it myself.

Hahaha - Put some Critter Ridder on and around the plants. In absence of that, some superhot chile powder will do the trick.
