I don’t enjoy spicier varieties raw, either, unless somewhat prepared like in pico de gallo.

I mean if you think about it like this, the capsaicin in peppers is all the same, and you are releasing pure cap onto your tongue, than no, it is not that strange. And this is not a scientific answer, but you get the idea. You are getting the same strength cap, just lower amounts of it as compared to superhots.
