A Pepperhead glog: Pickling, Saucing, and Powdering

No, the rest of the pods are normal, but only one of them is squat and stingery.

A Pepperhead glog: Pickling, Saucing, and Powdering

So I told my neighbor I would let him try some of my superhots when they're ripened.  I had a newly ripened bhut and let him try a PK.  He said the bhut wasn't too bad, a lot less than he expected.  The PK on the other hand, he couldn't get past the first bite.  Two things learned:  Can't wait...

    Pepper plant pruning

Not being an expert, I have some pruned and others less so. If I have branches producing and lower branches without, I will trim off lower branches so the plant's energy will focus on the productive branches (So goes my theory). But I have some plants where all the branches are productive...

Pepper Branches Keep Breaking Off Help?

      WTH happened there?  That's crazy!

A Pepperhead glog: Pickling, Saucing, and Powdering

Next year I will be conducting new experiments, with hopefully better record keeping.  I think one experiment will determine if I can keep track of all my plants.  I've been woefully negligent in my botanical genetics homework so honestly I don't know enough to make an educated hypothesis of the...

    McDermotts Field #3

That's weird, because since it has cooled off here, my small collection has kicked into overtime with the ripening.  Nice set up!  I wish I had 5 acres to work with.

plant Two bhut plants look different. ID please

I am growing bhuts from a single source this year.  Out of 9 or 10 plants, I think 6 have made it this far (7 actually, but I gave 1 away).  Of those 6, 5 are currently producing pods, one of those just starting.  I told you all of that to tell you this...   One of my bhuts is producing carrot...

    Primo problem

Well, nothing else seems to be affected, so I think I'm going to just call it quits on this one.  Is the dirt still okay to use, or should I deep six that as well?

contest Growdown: Prik Kee Noo Suan!: Prik a peck of peppers!

For a small plant, these are very productive.  I haven't counted these yet.  There'll be time enough for counting, when the ripening's done.

    Carolina Reaper (HP22B) Community Grow

I have in the past defended Ed and PJ, and still hold nothing against them, as I am happy with the product.  But to be honest, they did hype the hell out of this thing and kind of made themselves a lightning rod for scrutiny.  Whatever you think of the product, whether you like it or hate it...

A Pepperhead glog: Pickling, Saucing, and Powdering

No mulch.  Today things look more orangey than yesterday.  I'm not sure I want them to turn red now.  If they do then I have bhuts in 3 shapes and 2 ripening patterns.

A Pepperhead glog: Pickling, Saucing, and Powdering

So it's been about a week since I've updated, but the past 2 days have brought beautiful changes.  And now...Picture time!     First harvest! This guy has been sitting on the plant and has probably got as red as he's going to get.        The seeds from this bhut came in the same pack as the...

chinense Carolina Reaper and Pepper Stabilization

I was under the impression that heat average was what he was aiming for. Pod shape is cool and all but the big sell was most consistent SHU. I don't know if that was achieved but when I bought the seeds that's what I was sold on. I do, by way, have 2 diffetent shaped pods on two plants, and...

    Carolina Reaper (HP22B) Community Grow

I have bhuts from a well respected commercial seller that has produced 3 distinctive pod shapes on 2 plants. Bhuts should be more stable than that by now.

You are correct!  Google was my friend last night.  :)   The key I have found to getting a plant to set pods is to whine about it on my glog.  3 BS pistils this morning and 1 or 2 7 Pots. :woohoo:   UPDATE:  Let's make it 5 BS's and a ghost turning red in my garden pepper jungle.

    The official TOMATO thread

Okay,  So my mom was at my house doing laundry yesterday while I slept (I work nights).  I wake up and she tells me she picked some of my tomatoes.  I'm okay with that, that's why I grow them, and my wife and the kids will pick and eat the Juliets and cherries and it's all good.   But I had one...

A Pepperhead glog: Pickling, Saucing, and Powdering

Sneaky beetles here attack at night and I never catch them.   First fully red super!  I took it with my phone so it's a little fuzzy.     And can anyone tell me if this is a beneficial insect?     It's about 4 inches long and just horrific looking.

I may try this.  Is it like with pumpkins, just brush one onto another or by brushing do they self pollinate?.  I have one 7 Pot in a smaller container that has set pods.  But my big one and that damn Brain Strain are just beffuddling me.  They get bee visits, but I think they get more...
