    Polycotyledon

Hi Danish,   I'll try to keep track of it.  Here's the quad moruga today  next to a normal sibling that sprouted at the same time:     One of the cotyledon pairs isn't completely divided as you can see.   - Tick

    Polycotyledon

Tricots definitely pop up quite a bit, more in some varieties than others it seems,  I had several pop up in a small set of Chiltepin Sonoran Orange seeds.  Last summer at least 5 came up, I think, in a batch of ~ 30 F2s of a bhut cross I have.  They mostly seem to then grow normal.    As for...

    7 Pot Brain Yellow

Last summer I grew two yellow brains fron the same seed source.  It seems that they can vary a lot in color, size and shape both between plants and on the same plant.  One had moderately-sized pods that tended to be a bit more orange.  That plant's pods were fairly consistently brain-shaped as...

    Tick's 2015

Thanks Paul about the grow tent!  The crosses seem to be even darker than their CGN 21566 parent; that plant also had a nice two-tone look between new bright green new growth and older leaves (you can see it in a pic early in my 2014 glog).  These also have it but the new leaves seem to color-up...

    Tick's 2015

New year, new plants, new glog!   At the end of the 2014 growing season, I brought almost all my plants into my basement for some extra ripening time. I started saving seeds (and sowing a few) and freezing pods.  I also intended to more thouroughly prepare overwinters of my now big plants; as...

    hybrid Wild Crosses

Thanks wildseed57, Cathy and lemming!   Unfortunately, both of the above plants are now dead or near dead (life got a little busier right when it was time to prepare to overwinter).  Fortunately, I have smaller backup sibling plants for each of the above crosses that I'll try to keep going.  I...

    Tick's 2014

Yellow/orange chinenses from left - 1/2 brain, below is PI 215734, PI 257176 between the brain halves, CGN 21566 in front, small datil to the right, CXC2 on far right:   This brain tastes better to me than bhuts/nagas.  The heat has varied and one on the smaller plant had more oil than I've...

    Tick's 2014

Look like a freeze warning for tomorrow night; I'll bring in as many plants in as I can, but I'll have to figure out what to do with the larger plants and their peppers.  The weather forecast looks like it will be too back and forth in temp to bring a lot of plants inside and out   Here's the...

    hybrid Wild Crosses

Here's two I've made with a bhut jolokia,   bhut jolokia x Bradley's Bahamian (wild frutescens) F1:   and CAP 691 (wild chinense) x bhut jolokia F1:   The Bradley's cross is  hotter with maybe with a more interesting taste and the CAP 691 cross is a little more productive and (surprisingly)...

    CAP 691 Review

Thanks Nigel!  I've been kind of lucky - plants like their new location, no major disease problems this year and the few jumbo-sized aphids that showed up this spring went away on their own.  I also have a tepin-CAP 691 cross that is quite hot for its size.   - Tick

    Tick's 2014

I like all the yellows I have grown, but probably PI 215734 over the yellow brain.   The brain in the bag is my most impressive plant and the pods are big and have that nice superhot-look to them.  It has a better flavor than the monster naga, especially with a more mild pod I tasted in the...
