I feel your pain. As I said in an earlier post, all my peppers are now outside. Of course the weather cools off immediately, and today it actually hailed. HAILED. I havent seen my plants yet, Im not sure I want to.

Its organic container soil. The crust developed in about a week. This is one one of the plants affected.

I added the emulsion at 1 tbsp per gallon of water. There was a white crust on the soil. The plants that are still doing well dont have it. Im pretty sure thats what happened. Whats interesting is that plants of the same age and size are still perfectly fine.

This is a scorpion pepper Ive grown and have finally been able to get outside. Its about 7 weeks old. Im pretty proud of this little guy as its my first effort and Im pretty excited to see how it goes as the growing season progresses. Any thoughts or opinions are welcome!

What was interesting when I pulled the plants out of the solo cups was how big the roots are. A lot of the pics I see here are tall plants, while mine are about 4 inches tall but three times the diameter of the solo cup. Theyve seemed to grow up then out. It wasnt what I expected.

Those ideas work for me. In the end, its dirt and they want to grow! I just love doing the work.

So...growing peppers for the first time and its getting to the point of potting up. I understand what nutrients are required and space issues etc, but for large containers which will be the final destination for most of the plants, this is the soil I have access to...
